Bank card "special" moment

I had this happen a few months ago. I have a bank card and a credit card which I never used with a very small limit. I decided to start using the credit card for a few bits and pay it off monthly purely to build some credit rating. Went to use my bank card, had no clue what my PIN was, the same one I'd used for a few years almost daily, I still have no idea now.

I did this last week, except it was a little more embarrassing.

I was waiting to fillup at a petrol station, adamant that I knew my pin, waited 20 mins with 4 people behind me, I have two cards with me, but each one I couldn't remember any of the card pins!! :(

I avoided eye contact with everyone, got in the car, hoping that I could get home on the petrol I had left :p

I remember this happened me once a few years back (thankfully only once lol), driving to work I stopped at my banks atm to get money out - took out money easy enuf - finished u p around 3am or so and on the drive home realised I needed more money (prob spent my money on food) got to the atm and couldnt remember my number xD - it came back to me after a nights sleep and I've never had this issue before or after (yet) lol

There must be something in the water, I had a similar brain fart just a few minutes ago. Was just jotting down some notes and forget how to spell 'would'. I knew it started with a W, but for the life of me I couldn't remember how it was spelled.

I'm also getting old, this is why I always change my pins to patterns straight away. Like round in a circle 1397, or 3652. Much easier.

I did this just before xmas, I still swear i got the number right but didn work on 2 cash machines. So I asked for a new code, great but now with Santander you have to enable the new one in one of their cash machines, which I will have to do a special journey to as they have none where I live, where I work or on the way

Looking back I suspect the issue wasn't my pin at all, but that the comms were down on the machines (next to each other), as both let me in with the pin but didn't allow any withdrawl. So I think the pin was correct but they couldn't access the bank to check the balance, I doubted myself thinking I was entering the incorrect pin.

This happened to me once while out shopping.

I'd literally used the card 5 minutes before but when I went to use it again, my mind just went blank and I couldn't remember it. And I ended up having to change the PIN as it never came back, was very strange.

Same thing happened to a mate of mine, who I was on a course with at the time. Nothing, months later and he still couldn't remember it.

He'd had the same pin number for close to 10 years too!

Solution - if you have a child bring them with you.

About two years ago I was at a cash machine about to put in my code when oldest son says " dad do you want me to do that" so I told him to go for it thinking there's no way he knows it. Two seconds later code is entered and money comes out shortly after. Cue rather surprised and worried dad. Card stays with me at all times now. Other benefit is I don't have to get out of the car in wet days now- sons job.lol

Did you remember it once you got home?
