***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

I like the sound of a "UCS" Technic set. But it would have to be much bigger than the 24 hour racer for the rumoured price tag. Full electric set (not interested in the car moving) operating the doors, boot, bonnet and full engine/gearbox movement and a proper steering system (full seat adjustment would be appreciated as well) would have to be standard build for me.

But at the moment its all rumours, I'll wait until its confirmed by LEGO.

Not a fan of the 24hr racer, not even at £60 from Amazon Germany, may be its the colour but that model does nothing for me. Perhaps it's the colour scheme or something, or the shape.

And bigger is good, doesn't need to be that much bigger, 30% bigger would suffice.

Yeah can't say I am a fan of the 24hr racer even though in reality I love those cars, just not so much in Technic form.

I think the main draw for me is just as many power functions as possible. I've yet to pick one of the bigger ones up though, the Volvo digger and Crane Crawler don't take my fancy. If the Mobile Crane Mk II were still about I'd probably get that, but ah well :p

If the Merc truck offer is still on at Amazon Germany I'll probably pick it up but I'm not in a hurry! And possibly the new Heavy lift helicopter if that's on offer later on :)

As a child of the 80s I still struggle to warm to 'modern' technic with its studless beams and bodywork made of stupid panels and flexible axle things. The large vehicles all seem to have no real solidity to them, they're frequently padded out with massive amounts of empty space inside giving the impression of a large model but with little substance. Some of the cars have comical levels of chassis flex as well that makes them feel poorly designed.

What I'd like to see is a car with the construction style and visual appeal of the larger creator models like the Mini, F40 and camper van but larger (on a similar scale to 8865, 8880 8448) and sacrificing some of the internal details for some cleverly engineered mechanical functions.

Started my X-Wing today... After two bags I'm very impressed at how it is all going to work, it's been an enjoyable 2 bags so far.

The contents of the box seem sparse compared to the Tumbler.

On bag 5 of the Technic Mercedes truck and I'm missing 2 pieces :(

I searched all the bags and scoured the blanket all the pieces are on and nothing :( Can't really progress with the build anymore and not sure what to do? I have 4 other Technic sets built, so I could take the pieces from there short term and then contact Lego (They are fairly common pieces and I'm sure they are easy to salvage from the 24 hour race car). It's only my 6th set so no idea how common missing bricks is, but I guess there is a procedure to contact Lego covered pages back in this long thread?

Ah well, this annoyance will stop me buying more expensive technic sets, so not all bad!

The nice thing I found with the merc was that its pretty much a whole bunch of smaller modules. You should be able to start one of the later parts and add it on once you have the missing pieces.

Pretty easy to sort out too, as above.

It's really easy to order missing parts for not that much money on something like Brick Owl. Probably best contacting lego first however, although not sure how efficient they are with replacement parts?

I ordered a missing part just before Christmas and it took just over a week... which impressed me after being told when I ordered that the parts were out of stock.

Where-as the replacement parts for my Wall-E model are 4-6 weeks :)

[Edit] Received an email from Lego this morning that the replacement parts have shipped today :D

I recently ordered from Legos Pick a Brick service and it took about one and a half weeks from placing my order to arriving at my door, for just a very small order (bricks total was 57 p, PnP was about £3).

Just finished TFA Resistance Troop Transporter. Pretty impressed with it actually, given its only a small-ish model. Minifigs are good too.

the @Home store is usually backlogged over the dec/jan period so I wouldn't say that's unusual.

I heard something like they do 90% of their business surrounding the christmas period...

Is that the B Wing esque one, with General Leia? How were the stickers?

Yeah that's the one. There were about 16 stickers in the set, which is a pain but they do feel super sticky and likely to last. The most awkward one was trying to centre a sticker over the curved glass of the cockpit. So hard to judge it right, mines a little wonky but not wonky enough for me to risk peeling it off and trying again.
