Asus G752vt or G752vy

Just received my replacement today.

The audio still pops, temps are similar but fan noise is better on this one. But it has huge amounts of backlight bleed. I'm not happy with the amount of bleed so I'm awaiting for Amazon to see if they will send another or I will just go with a refund.

Asus quality control is rather crap on these which is not good enough when it is their flag ship model tbh. The only assistance they have offered is to send it in for repair with a 7-14 day turn around.....

thats shocking customer service! then again id expect nothing else from asus! well your thread has single handedly put me off buying a ROG and ill stick with the DELL model we were discussing in the other thread! as im getting it for £670 ill add the SSD and the Extra RAM and hopefully it'll be a scream!

The Dell looks a great machine but performance wise this is considerably better but also considerably more expensive.

Tbh I'm tempted to just swap the screens over and be done with it. I cannot be bothered getting a third.

Also another thing is the new one only has 16GB of Ram fitted and is missing the 3rd 8GB module.. ???

Quality control is non existent I think.

wow there quality control manager should be getting the sack!

yeah i know its a considerably better machine ive seen the specs as it was the ROG's i first looked at before stumbling onto the dell post! but yeah seems very poor quality control!

Screens swapped all is now hopefully ok. Been a bit of a nightmare but hopefully now I can get on enjoying the machine.

Hope this one is ok. Makes me feel quite guilty that mine has been virtually hassle free. :rolleyes:If I get chance this weekend I'll try & download that Heavens valley do you know any sites that you can download it faster.

TechPowerUp are usually pretty good.

Another weird thing is the headphone and USB C port on the right of the laptop get very warm when at idle. They cool down once the fan kicks in but just sat at the desktop they get toasty. It seems normal as a lot of reports of it on the net but a bit weird none the less.

On battery power only this time. The temp was 60 degrees could the power brick make 5 degree difference in temp????

It runs reduced clocks on battery. The Nvidia power saver also limits it to 30fps. I would not do any serious gaming on battery... :-)..

Im happy with mine now apart from the warm headphone socket area at idle but it seems common so not overly bothered.

My Cpu gets fairly warm in use but no throttling so happy with that. Thr GPU has never gone above 75.c even overclocked. It runs everything really well.

Im impressed with the free headphones they sound good and are comfortable as well. The mouse works well too.

Its not as quiet as the G751 so no idea what Asus fancy new cooler adds... :-)

I have worked out if you mute the sound the right side does not get warm. It must be the amplifier that is causing it to heat up. Not sure if a bad thing or not but it seems to have no ill effects so not overly concerned.

I haven't noticed any warming of that side of the laptop but I do only use headphones. Much as I find the built in headphone amp ok ,I'll probably end up plugging my Asus u7 back in I miss the big volume knob.
Just on a side note I've just update my Tom Tom map onto the Sd card can't get over how quick it transferred the files over well impressed!!

It will only get warm if using the on-board speakers.

Everything is working well for me now. My only real complaint is the sharp edge on the lip at the front left. Other than that all is good.
