So last April a company were offering Stormtrooper outfit Kits for $350. Having always wanted one and the prices usually starting around $600-700 i begged the wife and promised her the earth for permission to spend our hard earned cash on Geekdom.

3 weeks ago i finally got my Kit and after signing up to the 501st forums and watching/reading lots of build threads its time to start my journey into the Galactic Empire.

This wont be a fast build as i will be taking my time and doing it correctly, plus i work 6 days a week and have a child, so my free time is limited.

My wife bought me a blaster and boots for xmas so i just need to finish the build. The helmet was already built as part of the package, but i need to mod the insides to make it better.

Heres what we have so far.

stuff the wife bought me.

Next step trimming all the flash off the armour pieces...

My first thought was "how much?!". $300 for what appears to be several pieces of white plastic, that isn't even cut out? :p

So... What do you plan on doing when you've finished this outfit of yours? Casually go outside with it or what? I don't understand it, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

People above do realise this is basically the same kit as they wear in the movie? It's essentially a prop replica, albeit also a wearable costume, not some cheap knock off. The fact you have to trim it yourself is to allow for different fits/body sizes.

OP - Make sure you check out the resources on the RPF and also probably the 501st.

Also Tested.com did some videos where they assembled the Shadowtrooper armour with Frank Ippolito, and gave some good tips on tools and how to best follow the cutting lines.

That's fantatsic. After posting the Dancetrooper video on the youtube thread I had a quick look into this stuff including the 501st. It actually looks quite a bit of fun. Enjoy :)
