Almost hit by a bus this morning

3 Seconds for him to keep his doors open rather than in the '3 seconds' he managed to close the door almost run you over and swerve across 2 lanes to avoid you? So that would make you about 2ft away from his front windscreen when you waved at him to wait for you? Amazing turning on that motor

Round here if the bus is late it doesn't bother stopping at the bus stop, just steams on past leaving the people waiting for the next one. In an hour.

Nevermind. I'll come back to this when I've got more info. no point feeding those who are too thick / lazy to read the whole thread.

Shock as overly angry passenger gets annoyed by overly angry bus driver and the situation escalates, they get angrier with each other then the passenger gets angry with people on the internet.

I mean, really? Are you really wasting this much time/energy on something so pathetic?

You'd be surprised. Buses may be big but don't underestimate their turning circle. I've seen one do a u turn on a dual carriageway, looked like a black cab :p

Anyway. I've puffed my chest, had my rant, learned my lesson, whatevs. Move on as they say.

GD stopping a bus carrying Hovis competition starts today.

1pt - good post on GD
2pt - avoid getting knocked down
3pt - getting on said bus
4pt - telling driver to GTFO or other such nicety
5pt - sustaining minor injury
6pt - fight with driver
7pt - recorded video
8pt - head butting bus or driver
9pt - hospitalised
10pt - passenger riot/police intervention
11pt - DM article
12pt - RIP

In the event of a tie Diddums will adjudicate.

Good luck and may the best bus win. :p

As an avid bus user for many years, its a very difficult situation. If he told you to **** off or whatever I would say that is an issue.

But in terms of H&S please don't run infront of buses no matter how mad you are. It's not a fight you can win.

I still wouldn't pick a fight with a bus on the road.
There has been times in my case where I've legged it down the street because the bus has been early and all I got was a bus pulling away with the driver nodding "nope" at me....

Plus it was Arriva...

I think you need to include points for

Xpt - fight with driver and win
Xpt - fight with driver and get knocked spark out

I have a bus driver assessment day coming up soon, I wonder how I will deal with this situation when it arises. I suspect in the beginning I'll allow people on but with time the temptation to leave them or run them down will grow stronger within me.

What can we look forward to tomorrow? :D

well he's had a mouthful off the driver in question, had a hissy fit on GD. I suspect tomorrows post will be a request for journey planning to avoid said driver again. :p

or maybe we'll see in the news........'unhinged passenger attacks bus driver' :p:p

Can you imagine what will happen if he uses the tube. :p

Nah. I'll specifically get on his bus in future 'cos I know he's gonna get me there quickest :D

Cosimo: tube probably :p

Isn't this normally when another thread starts?

Had to swerve to avoid a nutter in the road this morning

Let me preface this by saying I'm used to the London passenger attitude of trying to jump on to a moving bus or trying to board when the bus is clearly full and I need to shut the doors. It's part of driving in London sadly, but you learn to live with it.

This morning however was a completely different story. I stopped the bus at my stop which is on a dual carriageway. This nutter ran at me as I was about to depart and was shutting the doors. Get this - he then runs right in front of me, waving my arms and forcing me to swerve across two lanes to avoid hitting him. I managed to keep the speed to a sensible level though, for his safety and the safety of all the passengers on board.

But it didn't end there. It turns out he got on the next bus and pursued me as far as Brixton. He boarded the bus with no intention of paying and started to take photos of the me and the bus ID. I tried to mask my face - we've all been there when someone dumps our photos on to Facebook or Twitter. He was claiming that I put his life at risk by making him run into the road. I've got a timetable to keep to, and tried to shut the doors and collect his fair, asking "Do you want a ticket mate?". His response was to hit the emergency door button and just got off.

I'm going to get back to the depot and ask the boss to get the footage from the front of the bus to show just how dangerous this guy is, and escalate it.

I think he meant you are entitled to a service if you get to the bus stop on time, not run into the middle of the highway to stop the bus.

Yup, everyone needs to remember busses are no longer a public service even in London. They are a business and run like one, to make profit. You may have purchased a ticket but that entitles you to nothing, it allows you to travel within the guidelines of the customer charter.

You can thank Thatcher for that.

That's all I want from a bus though. I'm not expecting champagne and a cigar. Just take my money and drive dummy.

I can sympathise with OP. I was driving locally one day just about to turn onto my road when I saw some guy who was running and was actually AT the bus stop before the bus driver literally closed the door on his face. I swung my car around, picked the poor fella up, overtook the bus and dropped him at the next bus stop. :)

It's not just bus drivers. Some people are just ****s and some people go out of their way to help their community.
