Almost hit by a bus this morning

is a bus driver under any obligation to wait for a passenger if he sees them running towards the stop?
No, but that is the difference between being a 'nice human' and a moody bus driver surely?

I don't have to hold the lift doors open for people at work, but I do.

I've seen this happen before but generally I arrive at the stop earlier to make sure I'm there on time.

No, there is no obligation to wait for passengers at all, the only time a bus music stop is if they are running early, other than the start and end of a route all stops are request stops that require you (the passenger) to be ready and waiting for the bus and for you to give the driver a signal to stop, not a signal to say I'm coming please wait.

You may all believe it's the easiest job in the world's but to be honest it's not, not by a long shot. The pressure on you from your operating company, TfL and traffic commissioners as well as the public influence is huge. 99% of the time things that affect the running of your service are out of your control, I.e. Traffic jams, or having to wait a few minutes for an elderly passenger to go up the stairs (this is highly frustrating).

I really enjoy my job, I'm always pleasant and happy chatting with my passengers and yes I wait for people if they are making the effort to catch my bus.

No, the bus started moving because he saw me. As I've said numerous times, his doors were still open, standing stationary. He saw me, waited for the last passenger to get on, and quickly shut his doors and floored it, well aware that he was being a dick. This wasn't someone in a hurry because he was running late, this wasn't someone trying to stick to a timetable, this was someone just being a dick, plain and simple.

.

What length of time after the Last passenger gets on do you expect the driver to hang about for with the doors open rather than continue on his set route?

The three seconds it would've taken for me to hop on (no exaggeration, it would've genuinely not taken more than three seconds).

Such a waste of a promising porn career.
I think a couple of guys have cornered that market online, but I can't for the life of me think what they called it? :p

I think we should stick with Diddums. Customer service is bloomin' awful in this country. I am sick and tired of it also and we should be less 'British' and call people out on it. Go to 'Murica and the service is impeccable. You know why? Because American's aren't afraid to complain, and loudly!

What are you upset about? You jumped in front of a bus and it didn't run you over?

this. quite frankly you're being silly. buses can't wait all the time for people who are late. yeah sure its nice. but they have a time table to keep. quite frankly this thread makes me see you as a bit of a prat

I've been using the bus over the winter to commute to/from work, instead of cycling and I really don't envy what the drivers face, just on the trips I take alone! I've lost count of the number of "suicide" manoeuvres done by pedestrians/cyclists/other vehicles around the bus I've been on, not to mention passengers kicking off when they press the "I want to get off button" after the bus has passed their intended stop.

Dear me just wait for the next one.

OMG someone didn't stop for my self entitled so and so quick let me kick up a fuss.

You mean like boarding a bus when it's stationary at a bus stop with its doors open without it pulling off to prove a point? That kind of service?

EDIT:

Nevermind. I'll come back to this when I've got more info. no point feeding those who are too thick / lazy to read the whole thread.

I think he meant you are entitled to a service if you get to the bus stop on time, not run into the middle of the highway to stop the bus.

You missed the bus, end of story.

Whilst I'm sure the driver could perhaps have stopped for you, I'd guess in this health & safety obsessed world we live in he'd have been in hot water had he done so and anything gone awry.

He's probably not allowed to pick up passengers after leaving the bus stop due to insurance reasons, stepping out into the path of a large vehicle isn't wise no matter what the circumstances.

Next time, be at the stop a little early.
