Well for the Coffee Lovers out their.

I do love my Mocha(mainly via Costa) and Azure Nescafé for instant.

I now want to start doing it better!

1- do i spend £100 on ...

Andrew James Premium Programmable Chrome Filter Coffee Maker With Integrated Bean Grinder Includes Reusable Filter

And buy some nice coffee beans ofc a step up from Instant

Or

2- A coffee Grinder and a Moka Pot

Any help would be great :)

Aeropress or V60 and buy freshly ground coffee from a decent supplier (hasbean/square/rave).

You budget isn't enough for a decent grinder.

Moka pots look nice on a shelf but are a bit of a faff for ~inconsistent results.

I'll read the Expresso forum.

Seeing how many vouchers I get - Amazon for my birthday this week and going from their.

Budget £300 or less

Well that escalated quickly!

I'd go with my set-up, which is an Aeropress (£20) and a Baratza Encore grinder (£140). The Baratza isn't good enough for a fully-fledged espresso machine, but for an Aeropress or filter it's absolutely great. I made the decision not to bother with an espresso machine (as tempting as it is), and I think you should do the same. Spending more would be overkill, judging from the coffee you are currently enjoying.

Asked in the other forum too. I want to buy right and once :) also my birthday this week and have £65 of amazon vouchers to use too.

Would you buy second hand? A second hand Gaggia Classic (~£90, older ones are better than newer ones) + Gaggia MDF grinder (~£150 - no idea how good these grinders are in comparison to others, you'd have to research) + A Rancillo wand to replace the rubbish Gaggia one + a non-pressurised double basket if it doesn't come with one = ~£257.20

Seconded, although I haven't personally used that grinder.

It all depends if you want to take the first steps on the road to a coffee hobby, or you just want something a bit nicer for little extra effort.

I love my Gaggia Classic, and can get better coffee than anything available elsewhere in Aberdeen. It has taken some effort though, and a bit of tinkering, but to me it has been worth it. One day I'll be able to afford a Slayer :o

A lot of people will recommend an Aeropress, and while I have nothing against them, to me, coffee is all about Espresso and Espresso based drinks.

A few years ago I went with what was recommended quite a lot

Gaggia Classic espresso machine - from the rainforest
Iberital MC2 auto grinder - http://www.happydonkey.co.uk/coffee-grinders/

Think both of these totalled to around £280 or so brand new so second hand might get a lot cheaper.

I've had this combo for like 10 years, reliable and good coffee. Totally got my monies' worth.

Yeah it seems to be doing the job so far. I've had to descale it twice and I've changed the steam wand but other than that it's all good. The grinder hasn't really required much attention :/

I have never "Cleaned" the grinder...I know you can put some rice through it but it doesn't seem to need it. I have taken off the container and gave that a wash a few times but that's it.

The machine, I live in an area where the water is really soft so I have ZERO limescale in it which i am amazed with.
