One of the benefits of living in Scotland! I bought my Classic second hand from the south of England so it needed a run through with descaler, but it's been perfect since then.
That's pretty much what I've done with my grinder too.
I live on the south coast and our water is 50% chalk (you can write with it on blackboards) so I've no doubt it'll need descaling again soon :/

We buy a massive tin of ground coffee from Costco, lasts us about 6 weeks. We use a percolator so our coffee is ready and waiting when we come down in the morning.

I use an aeropress, porlex grinder and buy fresh beans locally. I'm more than happy with the results.
Why would you want coffee to sit around for 6 weeks? Are you mad? Buy smaller amounts more often.
