Gears of War - Ultimate Edition

Nah marketing hype from MS once again promising to breathe life into PC gaming is over now, hold on till next Windows release ;)

see I never got the appeal of 2 and 3 - the whole game mechanics had changed too much at least as far as online was concerned. GOW1 was beautifully simplistic, the shotgun in particular once mastered was just a thing of beauty.

but when they 2 came out, and subsequently 3, they had changed a lot of the gun characteristics - I think to try and encourage people to use other weapons. but even the game mechanics felt different, the game felt slower, stiffer, less fluid compared to the first.

the first I'd quite merrily fire up on pc or xbox if I thought there was still anyone playing online
 
No Co-op is quite sad, would've loved to play through this again with someone else. Was much more fun that way.

true, added an almost realistic feel to the game. that said, mp was always what gripped me. wasted so many hours on it, as I've said many many times before there was nothing before and nothing since that was quite a satisfying as playing a 19 x 1 minute rounds of Raven Down!

not a great vid as the guy making it is clearly pants! there were at least half a dozen instances where he could and should have 2 pieced the enemy to bits.

I'd have been all over that match! :p

Wait what... they killed co-op (splitscreen) in Gears too? You're joking right? Gears and Halo splitscreen was the reason why I bought a XB360 back in the day. These sure are dark days for local multiplayer then...
 
Have they got rid of internet co-op too, or just local co-op?

Couldn't care less about local co-op tbh! But the only reason I played GoW so much was because of how fun it was in co-op with friends.
 
Last week MS confirmed Q1 2016 but no date was given. It only uses UE3 not even a full UE4 remaster they are just taking their time over this & Win 10 exclusive for all those barely 1080 grade textures :rolleyes:
 
DX12 only yet it uses Unreal Engine 3 as MS did not want to fund a proper HD remake so they could keep the same UE3 scripts from the DX9 PC version :(

Expect it to cost around £49.99-£59.99 & hardly ever drop in price either as MS do not believe in discounts for Win 10 PC titles :rolleyes:
 
Love the GOW games, I was waiting for this, but buckled and got the Xbone version instead. I am assuming the PC version will have all of the added thrills over the Xbone, but IMO it is still a significant graphical upgrade from the 360 one.
