MWC 2016

It's got that horrible jelly effect that a lot of ois has (old Lumia phones spring to mind, though I think the Samsung Notes also have the same problem). It's almost worse than no ois at all.

If you got a Jelly effect on the Nokias that had there OIS you have Parkinsons.

So far MWC has been disappointing. Does anyone else share the same opinion?

Agreed. No real surprises...even the Xiaomi Mi5 wasn't that much of a surprise for those in the know who love their Chinese phones as rumours about that device had been swirling around for the past 12 months.

Must say stoosh, I am quite impressed by the Xiaomi, shame no 800MHz support though :(

Yes Mate the device is impressive but as with all Chinese devices the 800MHz is always omitted. Best wait for the international version if it comes to fruition.

Isn't the sensor the imx298? So same as the Mate 8, so nothing special.

You'll find that Huawei's software at fault with not being able to get decent pictures out of the sensor. Xiaomi might be able to get better results from MIUI 7.

Sorry, bit knowledgeless but what does that mean, is it just certain networks it won't support or does it cause issues with all of them?

I'm temped with an S7 at the moment, but maybe I should be looking to spend a fraction of the price on something like this. Never considered a Chinese phone so unsure what the issues can be.

Is that definite though or just a rumour? As I mentioned before they performance showing on the Sony UK page, which would seem an odd thing to do if its not being released here, although maybe Sony don't even know.

It has been confirmed that the X Performance will not be released in the UK and Germany. Furthermore Sony have now officially announced that the X line of phones will be taking over the Z series, so all the Facebook posts ended up being true.

The X Performance isn't a true flagship phone and not to release it in two key major markets doesn't make sense. Unless Sony have a true flagship that they will announce in Berlin around Sept 5-7 in IFA....who knows....Only Sony does...

It doesn't make sense at all. Why announce a true flagship in Sept that won't see light of day until the tail end of 2016? This gives most of the year for LG and Samsung (especially) to claw away customers who were looking forward to a Z6, but ended up being let down and jumping ship to the G5/S7 or something else.

I still think the Z3 and Z5 are the most professional phones anyone has released the past 18 months and an all round excellent package, but the latest happenings in the world of Sony are making me glad I've jumped onto a better investment.

Unless they are dropping the top range to try and achieve some sales numbers by concentrating on the mid to low. Their mobile division is struggling isn't it? We saw HTC do something similar a few years back.

Sony always announce their flagships at IFA which is always held in September.
Agreed it doesn't make sense at all. I really don't think Sony know what they are doing and I'm inclined to jump ship as well as Sony don't inspire confidence in their business strategy.

I was waiting for a z6, so at least now I know not to wait
Think I will be going Chinese route but want to keep my next phone 2 or 3 years. So want a good one.

As soon as you start moving it just looks weird (and I'm not talking about the obvious movement from each step). There's little micro-judders which make it look like the world is warping or something. If you want an example of smartphone image stabilisation done well, look at the Sony Z5. It isn't even optical (software stabilisation), but it looks pretty near as good as you can get.

Personally I would have loved the X Performance to be released in the UK because it's a 5" phone with excellent specs, a OnePlus X killer.

Same here but you'll have to make do with the Mid range X if you want to go Sony.

It's official Sony have made an announcement that the Z range has been discontinued.

Very stupid of Sony. Think this will be their nail in the coffin. I'm not paying over £500 for their mid range offering as they cannot even be bothered to range their top specced X phone in the UK.

Go for the Mi5, excellent device with great specs.

.

Sony have indeed lost the plot. They are all over the place. Made a 4K phone, now this. Sad stuff from a company with such a strong history.

The issue there is the Lumias are shooting with 60fps, is there an example with it using 30fps as with the Sony, as a few have said the digital effect is all but turned off.
