**** The LG G5 Thread ****

Wide angle is literally the only thing that interests me on the G5.

Oh well. lets see how well it sells.

Me too, the camera module as well but it depends on how well the camera performs in use (AF speed etc).

The modular side is either going to be a gimmick and under used, or someone might actually do something interesting...

LG and Samsung have annoyed me by not allowing the sd card to be used for apps though :( I guess custom roms will be the way to go.

You have to give LG respect for keeping a Metal frame and still having a removable battery.

My problem is I can't stand on screen buttons, they look ugly and waste screen space. Hiding them is just a pain.

I would have given this phone a go if they had but no chance.

where is it (G4) the cheapest now, I missed it when it was £225 unfortunately? :(
I was hoping it would go on offer again or less.

Personally I find the overall design of the G5 a bit boring, and the other phone features don't really interest me. Wide angle vs. normal shot is cool, but I worry it'll turn out like the duo camera on the M8.

However, I think we're distorting things a bit, being (mostly) techies and early adopters who don't tend to keep phones long. For anyone who plans on holding on to their G5 for longer than two years, a removable battery is a very important feature. The fact that LG have managed this whilst still creating a metal, premium design is great news for the market. Sealed batteries are bad for the environment and significantly diminish the useful life of a phone. Now if only other manufacturers would follow LG....

Seems like a decent offer from Clove?

The nice thing about LG is they don't tend to fill the phone with bloat like Samsung and they are closer to stock android (no touchwiz horribleness), but LG seem to update their phones rarely with android patches/fixes. On my G3 i still have operating problems, especially with things like WhatsApp, clicking the launch icon and i wait 5 seconds for it to load, then clicking the blank area to send a message and another 5 seconds before i can type. I also get other random slowdowns and have to reboot, so there's got to be some massive memory leak in Android 5, but LG never patches or releases fixes.

Are you kidding me? I had the G4 and think LG have a fugly skin, just look at the notification menu. And there are plenty of bloat apps.

Clearly oldbag has confused LG with another OEM, Sony most likely. Sony and Moto are the closest to stock look while keeping OEM tweaks. Samsung are way better than they were and the S7 has some rather handy features in core apps not found on stock.

LG (G4) vs Samsung (S7):
