gB2488HSU-B2 - 24" iiyama Red Eagle

It doesn't help this monitor is unavailable in the US, otherwise we would have some reviews by now I guess.

I've decided to wait a bit longer for the ViewSonic XG2401 and some reviews. ViewSonic told me the FreeSync range is 48-144 Hz and the first user reviews on Amazon are quite good.

When is the ViewSonic supposed to be available? I'd rather have the iiyama as the ViewSonic is a bit ugly, but obviously id still go with whatever performs better.

None of these gaming monitors are pretty in my opinion.

The ViewSonic should be available at the end of March in Europe.

The iiyama is only 280 Euro right now here, very tempted to try one to be honest. :p

I agree its the case with most gaming monitors, but I thought the iiyama was one of the few exceptions. Quite a simple design, fairly plain looking. But all down to personal tastes anyway.

I think you should definitely go for it, and then let us know what its like! :)

Hello, i'm one of the people disappointed by the AOC G2460PF freesync issue too, and i'm planning to send it back. I read the posts, looked for infos about the monitor and can't do anything but wonder if the fact this monitor has a DP vertical sync from 55hz to 145hz means that the supposed 35-120hz freesync is not actually 35 but 55-120? Or they're just two different things?
The G2460PF had DP vert sync at 48-146hz, which casually looks like the default freesync capabilities not considering the beta drivers, but since freesync is in any case messed up in that monitor maybe it's not the best thing to look at...
So yeah, i'll just queue up to see if anyone has more infos about this monitor!

I've just ordered one to test, it will arrive Friday. :) If I like it I will keep it, otherwise it will be returned.

As I have also owned the G2460PF, I can compare it to that. I am not a display professional, so my eyes will be the judge. However, I don't think it takes much to be better than the G2460PF.

What do you guys want to know? I already figured the following:
- Freesync range (I expect 35-120 Hz)
- Freesync flickering issues
- Corruption during alt-tab?
- Color quality
- Is the lowest brightness usable? (Because G2460PF destroyed my eyes)

More?

Excellent, look forward to hearing how you find it. :)

I guess personally the main things I'd like to know is if the colours are decent (for a TN), and whether the Freesync works well or if you experience any of the issues you had with the AOC.

That's amazing dude, thank you, and yeah what you said should be more than enough :D in any case bring up any issue you might find during the tests!

So I have used the GB2488HSU-B2 for about an hour now, and these are my findings:

- Freesync range:
35-120 Hz, enabling Freesync in the OSD will disable 144 Hz in Windows. Also no driver needed.

- Freesync flickering issues:
Not present so far.

- Corruption during alt-tab:
No issues so far.

- Color quality:
For TN they are great! The default setting (User RGB: 100/100/100) is a bit too much, but the "Normal" setting is very nice. Much better than AOC G2460PF in my opinion. But keep in mind it still is a TN gaming monitor, so the contrast still is not that great. You should not expect IPS like colors.

- Is the lowest brightness usable? (Because G2460PF destroyed my eyes)
Lowest brightness setting is very dim, highest setting is extremely bright. I have it on 50 right now and it is perfect for my eyes.

Some other things:
- I like the design, it's nothing flashy and fits in with the rest of my stuff.
- The OSD is nice, but the touch buttons suck. They are slow and not intuitive. However, I won't return for that...
- Freesync works great, no issues so far.
- Viewing angles are OK, nothing more. Just like you would expect from TN.
- No dead pixels at all, also no noticeable backlight bleed.

So... I will use it more the coming days, but if it keeps running like this I will definitely keep it. It's much much much better than the G2460PF ever was, for not much more money.

That seems great! I'll just send back my AOC and exchange it for this one, hopefully i'll have the same opinion when i get it :D btw a question, the freesync needs switching on the OSD if i understood correctly? And what if it's enabled in Radeon Settings and not on the OSD? I assume it doesn't work and should not affect anything but...just in case...
Oh and btw on which games did you try it? I had display corruption on the AOC with CS:GO, Fallout 4 and COD BOIII today, but not for example on cities:skylines, superhot, or hitman:GO, maybe cause unity games do not cause the issue.
Anyway thanks for your input, you've been of great help! ;)

You can't enable Freesync in Radeon Settings when it is turned off in the OSD. It becomes a normal 144 Hz monitor at that point.

I will try CS:GO tonight.

Sounds promising GForce, had some unexpected bills recently so it might have to wait a bit but still looking good :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts GForce. I think I'll leave it a few days in case you find anything untoward, but this looks like my next purchase.

I think I can safely say this monitor has no issues with Freesync, at least not with my R9 380. Everything works as expected (including CS:GO) and I really like it!
