*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

All that you need to do is sign in on your friend's console with each of the accounts. For each account, activate his PS4 as the primary console as detailed here.

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/gb/ps4/settings/activation.html

You will only be able to play your digital games on your PS4 when you are signed in to PSN.

You should be a teacher. So it's only a risk if PSN down basically. I tend to buy most my games physical but have a lot of digital from PS+ etc.
Once he has downloaded them all, can I change my console back to primary so he is the one who has to be signed in?

Edit: So it wont affect his account as he will still be primary on his own PSN id? As I am not getting anything from him as I'm the one with the big library

You have to leave his console as the primary or else he won't be able to play them unless he signs in as you.

And nothing alters on his account, yes.

I'm not sure about the intricacies of PS+ either. Anything you queue up to download on the web will download on his console, not yours. So you have to do it manually on your PS4. I don't know what happens to auto downloads of patches and auto uploads of game saves.

Oh so when you say signed into PSN you mean as in on my account not just signed in on a dummy one. So he can play games downloaded on my account but signed in on his ID so he can get trophies.
Where as I need to be signed in as me to play them. Obviously that wouldn't work for my friend as if I was Primary, he would need to sign in as me on his PS and then wouldnt get the trophies.

In the case where I have say Life is Strange from CA. Can I still access that game from my UK account?

Ah! That's a very good point which I had forgotten about. I don't have international accounts myself so it never occurred to me.

If you make his console the primary for all three accounts, then you will need to sign in to each account appropriately when you wanted to play.

For your example, if you bought Life is Strange from Canada, then you would need to sign in and play it under the Canadian PSN ID. It won't be playable on your UK account.

So that kind of scuppers the whole idea if you want to collect trophies on your UK account only. You'd only be able to share your UK games.

Not too bad, I only have a few foreign ones and I've already got the Plat on most of those. Thank you for all your help.

So I got the official gold PS4 wireless headset. Bit luke warm about it so far. Does anyone actually use virtual 7.1 surround mode? Just seems to make it all sounds tinny to me. Didn't really get a sense of actual surround sound either. Also, that sidetone feature doesn't seem to work... with it enabled I still don't hear my voice play back through the headphones when I speak into the mic?

It's reasonably comfy though but just unsure it'll win me over yet.

That doesn't sound right, you are using them wirelessly and not with the 3.5mm cable right? If you are using the cable then they work unpowered, so sidetone doesn't work, and there is no virtual surround. I guess that could make it sound worse too.

The sidetone should have three levels you can toggle between, and while the effect is subtle you should clearly be able to hear yourself and other background noises with it on the max level.

Probably worth returning them as faulty if you are using them in wireless mode.

Yeah using them wirelessly. They've grown on me now. Plugged them into my MacBook last night wirelessly and was very impressed by the sound quality. Tried some more games on PS4 too and it's good. Sidetone doesn't seem to work for me at all though. Hear an audible humming with it on but never hear my actual voice when I speak unless I go into mic volume settings on PS4. Seems like a very common issue apparently.

That's good. :)

Maybe I'm not describing sidetone right, you wouldn't hear yourself played back through the headset like you do when your using the mic test. It's meant to make it so you can hear yourself as you normally 'hear' yourself when speaking.

Oh I see! In that case it's fine then I think. I was hoping you'd actually hear your voice play back but in reality it would get old quickly anyway.
