Cars which surprise you

The car that started my love of oil burners

Friend of mine had a rather tuned golf tdi hybrid bigger injectors etc but in my eyes still a rattle diesel

Put the mapped Leon Cupra R I was driving to shame bloody impressive
Mapped diesels all the way for me now

I used to have an old 'F' reg Fiat Teapot (Tipo) with tha lancia 1.9td and digi dash!, manually upped the boost and fuelling, it was making about 190bhp, used to whoop the golf gti's etc till the HG went :P

The new Mini Cooper S. Has a lot less obvious body & engine mods than a a JCW so you don't expect just how fast they are.

The S500 surprised me when I did a kick down, thought it felt a bit quick for something with 300 bhp. Turns out it has 382 bhp with a 0-60 of 5.2 :o

Silver Astra vans seem to surprise me at the moment. Always the silver ones. Or rather, the drivers treating them like they're F1 cars do. The amount of them that I've seen lately going at stupid speeds, tailgating and driving like a total **** is crazy.

Astravans are the fastest vehicles on the planet. Fact. :)

I had a pensioner in a Honda Jazz follow me at a steady 100-110 yesterday.

Last week I was pretty surprised by a Fiesta ecoboost who was tailgating me on the m25 - although I did get away from him quite easily, he didn't quite become the speck in my rear view mirror I expected him to.

Other than that, I think it's more me surprising other people than other people surprising me, not many people expect an old man's car to have 400BHP :p

Caught up with and subsequently overtook an e60 "M5" earlier, which surprised me a bit, it looked the part but something about it wasn't quite right, looked up the reg number when I got home and sure enough it was a 520d :/

Geekman, I never make the mistake of doubting what might be hiding under a Jaaaaaaaag's bonnet!

There's one of those near me. Private reg of "V10 GMW" and a strategically placed screw. Would have been a nifty(ish) plate but it's just a 520d with a body kit and badges. Don't know why people do stuff like that.

I just don't get why idiots do this. I see so many BMW's and Mercs with fake M or AMG badges on and they are always diesels  lol. Do they think they are gonna fool people with there mega torque's. Once anyone sees the black smog coming out the exhausts or hears the sound of a taxi instead of a growling V8 they are gonna know and just laugh at them.
Surely they feel ashamed people looking at them in the petrol station filling up there supposed 5.0 V8 monster at the black pump :(

I quite often surprise people in the grey hatchback. :p

Some twerp was trying to undertake me on the M23 the other day when I wanted to move into his lane, having just passed him. Must have woken him up... He was in a riced up Astra of some description...

Dropped it a couple of pegs and waved goodbye.

I don't understand why people gets upset being overtaken on the motorway. If I see someone behind me wants to get by, they are free to do so, would never cross my mind to keep up with them.

Exactly! It is most odd, but I have seen it a lot since I started doing a motorway commute each morning
Some very strange driving about...

Me, I like to sit at 60/65 in lane 1, and occasionally move to lane 2 to pass a lorry or a dawdler.
