What's your thoughts on it?

Currently watching that new show "You're back in the room" with Phillip Schofield and the hypnotist Keith Barry and I'm not sure what to make of it tbh.

Has anyone been hypnotised before?

I'm very sceptical of this tbh. I saw the same programme and thought we are all very different and have different sleeping patterns yet they all seem to be out at the same time like they have switches..That doesn't quite work for me.

I've been to hypnosis therapy for sleep years ago.. what a load of rubbish. She kept saying to me " think of a place that makes you happy".. The woman was quite fit so my mind was wandering upstairs.

That show is the biggest load of **** on TV. No idea how it gets the air time it does.

It's definitely a thing.

Derren Brown sometimes has to whittle 100's of people down to get somebody pliable enough to make the show go how he plans.

it isn't a 'thing', at least as far as stage hypnosis is concerned, it relies more on peer pressure and willingness to play along

Derren Brown is mostly a magician these days, he did practice stage hypnotism in his early days before he became famous and is quite critical of it in his book

And yet he still uses it, such was the case when he made a guy think he was in a zombie apocalypse.

I'd like to see conclusive evidence that this does or doesn't work. I've seen some very convincing acts in my time. Usually I'd just refute it off the bat but these guys were good.

How do you know he still uses it? He uses suggestion etc.. sure - but the idea of a hypnotic trance/hypnosis etc..(in the way that the stage hypnotists try to portray) is complete bunk.

The power of suggestion can be very strong but I don't believe that people can be made to think they are a chicken, for example. I've had hypnotherapy before and at no point was I in a situation where I felt out of control. I could have moved my arms or opened my eyes at any point. I mentioned this to the hypnotherapist and they said that that was exactly right; it's about engaging your subconscious, not overriding the conscious. TV shows and performers are fooling the audience more than the actors on stage.

We went to a show last time I was in Saffrica and this guy got some people from the audience. I'm pretty convinced they weren't stooges because he had to go through the same process a couple of times before he had enough victims, and these were also people who we later saw walking around (Emperor's Palace for those interested).

He got this chick on stage who was pretty good looking and convinced her that 10 was an orgasm, and slowly start counting from zero, and stopping at nine. This did in no way look like a faked show, I think this chick was really about to blow her load. Was quite funny.

I wish I could do that to women :D

Will only believe it when someone successfully hypnotises me.

This and they've tried and failed miserably blaming it on me for not being relaxed enough. OK.

Also played along with a psychic once which was entertaining, of course they were completely wrong as half the stuff I fed them was complete bull but I didn't want to ruin the exp for the gf.
