*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

At last, something for the camera that's never been used since launch, I have the Move gear also, so I supposed £349 isn't that bad in the end, won't touch it till next Xmas though to give it time to mature and the game library to increase. I also wonder if it'll be PS5 compatible, maybe another reason to hold off as we must be only a couple of years away from the next console and wouldn't want another unsupported item.

My normal ds plays neodeo games so pretty sure a 3ds must be able to but nor officially:/

As far as I know, regular DS can't play Neogeo games officially, it probably requires some sort of flash cart. In that regard, you're right that the 3DS likely has the capacity via homebrew. Just don't buy into the whole 'new' 3DS scam. You can buy a brand new o3DS XL for less than £100 on Amazon whenever they have deals.

Apologies for going off-topic. Also, will the PSVR support titles like No Man's Sky in VR? Cos then that might be a reason for me to be interested in VR at all. Currently VR just doesn't appeal to me.

VR seems to be moving quickly - I really dont want to throw this money down for only for it to be superseded quickly - its why Im sitting on PC VR solutions as theres some new technologies that are gonna make a massive difference to VR (foveated rendering seems the biggie).

Indeed. One of the reasons why I'm not too fussed about VR. Current headsets are looking bulky and heavy. I bet (if VR succeeds) that in several years time, we'll get the slimmed down VR headsets. As it does with most technologies (laptops, phones, TVs, etc).

Yep but all it does is de-VR the picture to be sent to a TV and process 3D sound - everything else is done by the PS4

ps3ud0

Hmm but either the games won't look that good or it has extra graphics processing. No way his outputs 1080p at 90 to 120 FPS. The current games don't do that res at 60 FPS

I'll keep an eye on its progress but right now I've close to zero interest in PSVR. I realise it isn't something you can easily demonstrate but everything I've seen so far has been uninteresting tech demos. For a peripheral that costs more than the machine it runs on they had better come up with plenty of decent content. Sceptical but happy to be persuaded otherwise.

I doubt PSVR games will look anything like your PS4 COD or Battlefield. Think cartoony/stylized or PS3 level. Even the HMDs running on a high-end gaming PC are dumbed down to a certain extent versus what would typically be possible with the same hardware on a normal monitor.

Has it been confirmed the separate box is purely for feeding content to the TV in "2D"? Everyone assumed it would house some sort of additional GFX processing.

Might also be worth mentioning there is a thread in the VR Forum...

Yes but on PC you could get games that scale beyond most people's hardware and would run close to max on say an upcoming GTX1080 - benefit of PC.

Thanks for the link

Any news on what will happen with sound on PSVR? I notice it has no headphones? Will they make a new official headset to nicely fit over it? Also, what's the deal with Move? Can I just buy a current set or will there be a new Move for VR bundle?

There are a set of earbuds in the box, but you will probably be able to plug most sets into the HMD or use wireless.

Consensus is the existing Move controllers will work fine as that's what they have used in demos, but I wouldn't be surprised if the packaging at least gets a rebrand as I think they are currently still marketed as PS3 accessory.

I would pre order one right now on amazon if your thinking about getting one... who knows how hard these might be to get hold of around release. You can always cancel between now and the end of October.

That was my thinking, they don't charge until dispatch so plenty of time to change my mind of need be.
