Hi guys,

Just a quick heads up just in case this effects anyone else!

It seems that a recent update to Windows 10 has "broken" the Xbox One Controller when you use it. For me it works for a while and then you start to get some input lag, at this point my mouse just completely freaks out. Keyboard just about works and doing a shutdown -r -t 0 just leaves it on the RESTARTING screen where only a hard shutdown will work.

In a state of panic I rebuilt the entire PC and it was still happening, switched back to my old 360 controller and it all seems OK for now.

Just figured out the same issue!

My controller works fine when connected wirelessly or plugged in but its when it turns itself off my mouse goes mental and starts just BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP.

Culprit is KB3140743, un-install that and everythings back to normal.

yes mines the same .. i formatted my drive because my PC was going mental after last update, couldn't even open the menu bar

Can confirm a friend with XBOX One controller experienced crashes one after the other with GTA due to this, couple days ago. I remembered this thread and suggested xGBHxPegasus' advice (thanks). It worked straightaway. After which, we checked Windows updates, and there was a new one which replaced KB3140743, and it worked.

I uninstalled KB3140743 and it still crashes when you either unplug the adapter or the controller goes to sleep

After a hard reset (only way to reboot) it deleted all my steam games that were installed and my xcom 2 save game

Aye....thought this was going to be the solution to a very, very similar issue that I've had on the main system for the past week, but just happened again this morning.

Something else going on I think.

Wow exact same symptoms! Will have to give this a go. Been using my dire 360 controller and it's ruining my Rocket League abilities :(

Mines come back again :(

Gotta figure out which update its now as 743 is still not installed..

Hi there, the issue came back for my friend too, shortly after uninstalling KB3140743 (which turned out to be just a temporary fix). After trying a lot of stuff, and installing the successor (KB3140768), about the only thing left to try was to manually install KB3140743 again, as it was missing on their system and Windows Updates would no longer list it.

So using Internet Explorer (hidden away in Windows 10 in case someone doesn't know - just search for it) which is the only browser that works with Microsoft Update Catalog (search online), we found KB3140743 there and installed it again, and no issues since for several days. In their case, having BOTH 743 and the newer 768 fixed the issues.

Hope this can help a few others too.

Sweet, thought it might be a new update that fixes the old issue but breaks it if its not installed. Will try this tonight and report back.

ill do the same.. the issue started for me after I upgraded to the new build of windows 10
1511
before that the controller was great and the only issues I would have was that sometimes the wirless adapter wouldn't switch on and had to unplug it and push it back in before the controller would connect

Very annoying

Same with me, both installed and issue still there :( Gonna try un-installing both of them and seeing if it goes back to ok again.

EDIT - Yeh this temp fixes it for now.. Slightly stupid though :(

I just updated the xinput driver to the below, sorted the issue out without having to uninstall the KB update -

I've had nothing but problems with windows 10 controller. Absolute ballache to get it to connect wirelessly everytime i want to play.

Hoping this doesn't affect me now.
