** FREE KINGSTON FURY 240GB SSD, TOM CLANCY's DIVISION, FARCRY PRIMAL WITH ASUS GTX 970's!! **

If they announce in April and release in May, that is "a few months"

Not next month, which is April like quite a few here believed we would see Pascal by.

I don't think anyone thought it would come out next month. They might announce it or reveal info, but the rumoured release date is end of May which tallies with what Gibbo has said.

No, there were a good few last year who thought we'd see the first Pascal chips by April.

If I drop my price to nearly £100 below competitors (selling at a loss) people start calling people, eruptions happens and it causes problem in the channel worldwide and no manufacturer would ever help us do a promotion that effectively trashes pricing world wide for current generation product that will be remaining current for a few more months yet.

So the second best option is to do bundles because they go un-noticed as to speak and manufacturers love such promotions and are happy to help us make such deals happen. :)

is this why the Nano for £349 disappeared?

Surely it's the SSD that's close to EOL or at least severly reduced in price making this look like a good deal, game codes are probably subsidised too, those gifts thrown in with a card that's going to be replaced fairly soon is simply making an old (ish) card slightly more appealing to those who are sitting on the fence. So technically gibbo is trying to sell, and as someone has pointed out, that's his job :D Nothing to complain about really, it's a decent deal if you want the gifts or are willing to sell them, otherwise sit back and wait for the new cards at full rrp.

I'm very tempted by this. I'll have a think over the next could have hours.

Don't need the games or SSD so would get back on them..

I'm in the same boat - already have 2 x SSD, 1 x NVMe, 1 x HDD in my rig!

As an aside, can you SLI two 970's from different manufacturers? I have an MSI 970 Gaming. I want a little more grunt to drive my 21:9 at maxed out settings and lower temps.

Still not financially sure it's worth it and I've been reading some very damning stuff about SLI just recently in these very forums.

[EDIT] Oops - missed page 2 of the thread :)

This^

I see 5 240gb SSD's for £25. SSD's are cheap as chips.

So Simon continues with his "don't buy now " rhetoric.

Based on nothing whatsoever to backup his claims...

I mean get a GF, travel, do something that has some kind of meaning :p

Talking of an April/May release, what about all the talk about nV+TSMC being 6 months behind AMD+GF?

What's behind the renewed optimism for an early summer Pascal release?

Is it just a case of "I want to believe"?

They want to sell product. If customers know something new coming within a month or two they won't sell current gen.
