Two explosions at Brussels airport

Oh wow to think they just made this a month ago, you couldn't make it up

Quite sad :(

I remember a while back Lebanon (I assume the government or tourist board) were angry and I believe tried to take some legal action against Homeland for its portrayal of their country as a terrorist hot spot. There was a terrorist bombing shortly after the airing of that episode/their initial anger.

Photos all show damage to the check-in area of the departures section of the terminal. No-one would have gone through security before that

Yes i saw all that, three different news channels have been reporting the departure areas, but it may be the sources info keeps changing.

BBC
"Twin blasts struck the departures area of Zaventem international airport, in the north-east of the city."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-35869985

SKY
"There were two explosions in the departure area, one probably caused by a suicide bomber," said Frederic Van Leeuw of the airport attack."

http://news.sky.com/story/1664446/suicide-and-suitcase-bombs-rip-through-brussels

France24
"Two explosions tore through the departure hall at Brussels Zaventem airport, reportedly killing 14 people."

Unfortunately that's the world we live in currently, they were also probably aware they weren't really at risk by doing it. I'm sorry but if you depict a cartoon in the current climate which is offensive to Islam, then given past events and generally what has been going on, you may be putting a crosshair on your head and you'd be an idiot to ignore that risk.

obviously, but that wasn't the point - the point was that that is the current situation - the other poster made this statement:

No other religion has this problem, you can mock and make jokes about every other religion without fearing for your life

which you disputed even after he clarified he was referring to the media but you now seem to recognise it is an issue and there is a risk there

Oh God, just what a mourning city needs.......

Queue ridiculous questions, reports and pictures of sad looking dogs. How she has a leading job as journalist......

But how do you know I wasn't ?

So you're saying that whenever anyone makes an unsubstantiated claim that happens to suit their own agenda we should assume that the claim is truthful? That is better than responding with scepticism?

No parallels to be pointed out here....

Very sad to see all this.

I'd imagine if the person carrying the bomb managed to get into the lounge area they would have gone one further and just boarded a plane? No more checks after you're in the lounge.

Very likely they were in the check in hall.

You assume that the poster who lives in Belgium has an agenda ?

That's quite some assumption !

Did you even read his post ?

If it's ok for Amigafan to assume that I didn't cheer because of the culture I grew up in then why wouldn't the same apply to how people respond due to the cultures they grew up in.

So just because somebody lives in the country where there was an attack, we should believe 2 lines of text in their Forum post.

Trump lived in New York during 9/11 and said Muslims were cheering on the streets. It didn't happen.

Its all Departures? Check-in is departures. Specifically on the last link, departures hall means the check-in area.

It was not in the Departure lounge.

Ah right, the last time i flew anywhere i was 6, im now 45 so i am not an expert :) I have always thought departures was after checkin\security.

The BBC and their fantastic broadcasting, their reporter (Stephen Sackur) reporting from Belgium just saying that they have found nails in a bomb that has been dealt with, the nails apparently to cause maximum damage.

Oh really, so just a bomb doesn't deserve to come under the heading of maximum damage then, **** *** BBC.

 Horrible to say but this is a totally valid point. An explosive without projectiles will cause far less damage if you are outside the blast zone, with nails you ensure worse injuries.
