Lets say AMD vs Nvidia which deal would you really pick

So true, i was gaming at one point on intel HD 530 whilst i decided which GPU to buy, and other than turning down settings, the gameplay was just as much fun as when i got my 980ti.

I was playing the original Master of Orion game today on my 5960X/TitanX/2160p system, this old DOS game looked total rubbish but it was still a lot of fun to play.

None of the above.

I'm currently on 1080p60 with a 970 on a non G-sync monitor and I'm good with what I have. But I want to eventually upgrade to 1440p120/144, so I'll wait till there's cards that let me do that whilst keeping most new games at maxed settings. Oh and G-sync/Free-sync too, so I'll also be waiting for those monitors to become more affordable (if they ever do).

A new Masters of orion game is due soon. Loved the 1st one but the second and third were seriously lacking something.

Do you mean the remake of the first one, I was playing that last night.

I got all 4 games as a bundle on steam, MOO 1, 2, 3 and the remake.:)

If Don would like to do up a poll. Thanks
1.R9 Nano + Freesync monitor for same price as 980Ti
2.980Ti
3.AMD all the way
4.Nvidia all the way

Yes I love AMD vs Nvidia stuff,so let look at real value and which one would have best gameplay. This is only one example and I am sure people could pick out many more, but if you had no preference which one would you really pick.

Total £509.98 - R9 Nano + Freesync monitor
R9 nano

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-035-ao.html £119.99

Total £575.99
980Ti

Nano is a FuryX on a small PCB. However I wouldn't pair it with a small monitor like this. Needs 2560x1440 or higher to stretch it's legs.
Or else buy a better monitor and a R9 390X to save money

I think the 390x isnt that great value though, its only very slightly faster than the 390 but much more expensive imo.

If you could still get a Nano for £349 id get that any day vs £349 for a 390x, however Nano prices have gone back to pre price drop prices :(

I think I'd opt for a 390x over a Nano. I have a Fury Tri-x but in hindsight I'd go Grenada instead of Fiji this gen,
Actually in hindsight I'd go back 9 months and buy a 980 rather than waiting for the AMD releases.

I would have probably gone 980 too but i bought a freesync monitor and was waiting on Polaris (also thought my 7970 supported freesync oops). Been so close to just buying a R9 390 or R9 Nano multiple times. Then OCUK are doing a good deal on 970s at the moment and im thinking: "Do i really need freesync?".

All i want is a card that can have a full cover EKWB, but also pretty small as im thinking of making my next build ITX (Define S Nano), only issue is i cant find any ITX Z77 boards... Old tech i guess.

If I had a freesync screen I would definitely want to use the tech. If I didn't already have a card I'd get something cheap until the next gen appears. I'd get a new or secondhand 260x which is freesync ready so I can see how freesync does at the low end of the scale and wait for the next range to land. If I already had a 7970 I'd just wait.
