i broke my new 980ti after a poorly planned mission

Popular classified ads websites would be my suggestion.

Advertise it on an auction site with collection only, tell them to bring cash and then cancel the transaction - no fees

Not sure how an auction website works, but if the suggestion in this post would have no impact on your seller rating then it seems like it could work out very well.

leave him alone I dont think he was show boating more just having a rant as hes obviously invested a lot so he can see what 4 way sli is like. but like most people has realised its a waste of time.

if i had the expertise then I would waterblock it, unfortunately I dont, even if i tried id probably break it more.

You can just buy an aftermarket cooler which comes with instructions that make switching out the cooler a simple process. It's basically just as you said yourself - removing some screws - cleaning up the core of the GPU using Isopropyl Alcohol, and replacing the TIM with something better and slapping on the new cooler. There are plenty of youtube videos to help you out. :)

This OP sounds like he has too much money and no idea...

or he is trolling.

Seriously... Ask the Card maker for a new Fan, fix it and then buy a bigger PSU. 1300W IS NOT ENOUGH.

No it doesnt, i get much better prices doing that than people offer on the MM

Depends where you live. It obviously reduces your market by restricting who can buy it, therefore you get a reduced price for it. That is the only way to get a bargain on ebay any more these days, look for folks who won't post anything and hope they're local.

I would just put an aio on it. Or wc it. Really not hard at all. Aio is just a few screws.

Keep 2 or 3 cards. AIO the top one (one with broken fan). Then keep the other 1-2 new cards for 2 or 3 way SLI. Sell another nearly new card on fleabay. Pickup whatever.

2-3 cards in SLI will get hot without wcing. Seems most logical to me to have the top one or even both with AIO coolers on.

And don't worry I've done worse on my first ventures into pc building.

Expensive lesson when a bit of research online would've accomplished the same thing for free.

well im gonna put them on the gumtree and see what response i get, i did put it on the bay but had to cancel the transactions because ebay game me a free voucher and i didnt read the t&c's now they wont honour the discount as i listed the cards as multiple listings rather than individually

so now i will do it as buy it now and collection only and see if i could get rid of them, i wont bother with the card with the broken fan, im gonn see if i can get rid of it for around the 300/350 mark

guys so an average 980ti new is around 550/600, and we are not very far away from the new pascal cards,so for the people who own the 980ti's or recently bought 980ti's who also want to get the new cards, im thinking that there will be a huge price drop for the current 980ti's right?

so a mid range pascal will be like 980ti performance but at a cheaper rate which means the 980ti may drop up to 40%

am i right with this thinking?
