Gym advert targetting fat people is offensive

The problem is they all claim to have this mysterious medical condition. Luckily it's quite easy to spot, they usually have trouble keeping their feet out the cake shop.
Wrong diagnosis.
There are medical conditions, but the vast maority of males that claim it are lying - It's an ovarian thing.

Haters gon hate
WTH?
Does that ever actually help anyone deal with it?
OK, if haters gonna hate then why aren't the hated gonna smack 'em in the mouth?

Probably diagnosed by a fatty?
It's more likely an addiction resulting from a level of Bipolar Disorder, rather than outright eating disorders.
I 'technically' have an eating disorder, but it's a result of being skint!

Hurting loved ones, nobody wants to see somebody they care about slowly killing themselves.
Everyone has to die - At least these guys get to enjoy loads of cake and sweeties and things.
If you can't even enjoy your death now, what's the point in bothering with life? Go smoke a pack of ciggies, drink some alcohol, ride a motorcycle, skydive, whatever - Enjoy life!!

Or eat rabbit food, jog 30 miles a day, stay away from anywhere that has nasty polluting things like cars and live a long, dull, boring life... don't forget to have your own towel though, to keep the dirty germs away!

Why does having an healthy lifestyle make your life dull and boring? Just because I go to the gym everyday, which I enjoy, and have stuff that is bad for me in moderation my life must be boring.

On the other hand you can be fat and perfectly healthy.

Being fat in itself is unhealthy, it is impossible to be fat and healthy.

All your bits and bobs may be reading within healthy levels at that point in time, but you are almost guaranteed health issues in future as a result and are putting much more strain on your entire body the entire time you carry that excess weight.

I'm not talking about a little bit of podge, I'm talking about somebody who is visibly, obviously overweight.

I've nothing against fat people, your body, your choice, nothing to do with me, but being overweight is unhealthy. Period.

People actually got upset that an advertisement insinuated that aliens would take the fatties first?

Must be some oestrogen in all those Bag Macs.

I understand where you're coming from, do you also agree that people who bodybuild to a decent level are just as unhealthy then?

A lot of people don't "get" it, at all.

I don't crave cakes, biscuits - and I cannot remember the last time I had cocacola. However, I do have a healthy appetite (4000+cals a day) but I exercise a lot. So I enjoy my food, I get out and about, I socialise, I walk a lot, and still have time to spend on the forums and be a bit geeky. You just have to sacrifice or prioritise some things. For me sitting at home in front of the pc or tv is just not interesting - so I go and be active.

Too many people make excuses. However, even just going for a 30 min walk is better for your health than vegging in front of the tv.

Just as unhealthy? I'm not sure on just as unhealthy, potentially more so, simply because the drugs required to reach a decent level aren't exactly doing you any favours if long term longevity is remotely important to you :p

Eat as many calories as you like, if your lifestyle has you burning that amount in a day, then you wont have a problem with piling on weight :)

TBH, I have better things to worry about than how healthy I am being... and going up the gym every single day is probably bad for you, as well!!

I agree, the guy who's struggling to get out of bed without mechanical aid and the roid monster who's having heart attacks at twenty are both in the same rickety health boat, regardless of the aesthetics and public perception of what's healthy. Should either choose to moderate their excesses, then all the better, and both should be encouraged to stay safe and live long, productive lives. :)

I don't find it offensive... Then again I'm not fat. Perhaps ask a fat person whether they find it offensive or not.

Do fat people have a national or international representative? You know someone who speaks for all fat people.

Having a McDonalds once in a while is not going to make you unhealthy the same way eating a salad in-between a tonne of chocolate and crisps is going to make you healthy. I don't think regular exercise is bad for you at all and neither will any doctors.

Discouraging fat or unhealthy people either directly or indirectly to change their ways or take exercise is totally idiotic.

How about we ban the non swole guys from the weights room? Why should we look at skinny dweebs trying to curl or squat when we real men need to do some serious grunting.

Everyone has to start somewhere folks. Whether they're fatties or skinny kids, they should be encouraged. The gym ad in question is probably well intentioned but ill thought out. Positivity and not negativity will help people.

On a different note, a lot of people with "healthy lifestyles" or "clean lifestyles" often try to justify it by claiming to be real foodies or preach to others about what foodies they are and often take incessant social media based photos of whatever they're eating. I just don't get it. Be healthy, live clean and do what you like I say! No need to justify yourself in my view. So you don't eat cake or animal fats or blah blah whatever. Good! May you live long and prosper. Just no preaching. It's the crowing and preaching on social media and in general that puts many off exercise and trying to be healthier.

Likewise fat people shouldn't whinge about why they are fat when they drink five beers a night and eat large amounts and eat badly. I don't care about your burgers and chips. Or that you're being good today so you won't eat the cheap processed cakes and chocolates in the middle of the desk. Be fat if you're happy.

Do what you like. Just do it quietly.

My point is lets encourage others and not denigrate them. Even if it's a light hearted poster of aliens.

Big difference between going to the gym every day and being a roid monster. As long as you exercise safely then you can gym as much as you want. I know plenty of people who go to the gym every day and are wonderfully healthy. Just because you go a lot doesn't mean your a roid junkie and hit it as hard as you can as long as your muscles can move.

Also, i dont think it is in the gyms interest to advertise promote the dangers involved when being too into body building.

I think you're missing the point that he's making. You can generally lead a healthy lifestyle whilst also eating nice food, enjoying yourself and not being boring.

I cycle tons and lift a few weights. I also eat like a horse and enjoy awesome BBQ'd meat, pizza and probably more beer than I should.

Even if I was the kind of person that just ate really boring food all the time there would be nothing wrong with it as long as I wasn't judgemental towards people that enjoyed different things.

Yeah, ultimately it's your time and life. But I do have an issue with people who juice without knowing the risks and for primarily aesthetic, non-medical reasons, and then turn around to berate a larger lad over how unhealthy he is or should give up going to the gym.

That is probably the exception rather than the rule though - especially on here.

There's a bit of a negative perception sometimes that anyone with any muscle must be on something.
