Dirt Rally comes to Ps4 / Xbox One in april.

They've gone back to basics. The original Colin Mcrae games were great until the DiRT changes came along and ruined everything with big bouncy monster truck crap. The actual rally stages were still OK and they've gone back to that. I'll pick it up at some point. Not for the faint hearted though game is meant to be RBR levels of solid.

this game isnt like the old easy ones . you need to practice . the handling is amazing.already voted best driving game of 2016 and most of 2015. read the reviews.there isnt a bad one.

we have a big thread in the pc section. the ps4 version is 60 fps solid.looks almost identical to pc.with a compatible wheel (check before buying ) it handles the same also.

Should I assume that a wheel is a requirement? I want this to be as hard as RBR where I taught my younger cousin what swearing was...

I have read the console versions have tearing which isnt a great thing, but hopefully can be patched.

ps3ud0

I got this on Friday and it's translated really well to the PS4. I've had it on the PC since the early access but wanted it on console and really happy with it so far, best rally game for ages.

I though Seb Loeb rally was fine but this is in a different class.

Picking this up tomorrow with some double up vouchers! Should be fun! If only i grabbed that G29 for £99...

loving this at the moment ,the handling is fantastic. (using logitech g29 not tried ds4) .framerate is good, didnt notice any screen tear

i was using chase cam originally and it felt a bit weird ,but switching to bonnet cam and cockpit view makes it handle better.
This is one game where i would welcome some extra dlc

It's pretty dam good,

I had it on PC since it was first released but wanted to play on Xbox, it still suffers from being a little grindy to earn the credits you need to unlock cars but the console port seems rock solid so far.

This is great!

It's Project Cars but Rally. Loving the Rally Cross currently to get to grips with handling and done a couple of rally stages which are brutal.

Must resist the G29...

Had this since yesterday afternoon on XB1 using the Controller.
Cars owned - Alpine/Escort/RS500 & 1 of the early FWD cars that I've forgot.

First time playing this I was literally what the **** as I really didn't expect it to be much more than the usual Full throttle arcade style thrash about the previous versions were. Far from being Arcade they've actually tried to produce a SIM type Rally/Racer for the consoles & they haven't done a bad job at all.
So I switched my Arcade head off & approached the game "properly" & it took me a fair few runs through before I was fastest in a Rally Stage. (Single player) You really do have to Drive the cars & feel your way through the stages balancing & picking your way through using the throttle & minor steering adjustments. Touch the throttle to early or to heavy or just nick the grass & you're spinning straight off into the hedge.
I didn't get on with the FWD car I bought at all it's an under steering piece of **** that just kills all teh fun for me so it's RWD all the way so far.
I also turned the sensitivity down on my Stick a Tad & Lengthened the gears to reduce initial wheel spin.
Cars - Alpine = Awesome Starter motor - Escort = Larey as Hell but great fun - RS500 = Is actually the easiest car I've driven in the game so far, Feels quite slow very manageable & ultra stable compared to my other 2 RWD motors.

Things that could be better - Feedback is not Violent enough, I used to Love that Grunt/Hurt sound the co-driver made in RBR & you could feel the road surface better through the feedback/vibration.

Things that are Outstanding - The Sound is ******** Awesome through my SS System, The stones flying up the side of the car, The knocks, Bangs & Squeaks & "some" of the Engine/car sounds. My Alpine sounds Mint, old/noisy/rattly & Raw but my RS500 sounds **** which is a bit of a gutter.

The Handling considering I am using a controller is pretty much unbelievable, Once you get yourself into Rally Mode & actually listen to your co driver & get to grips with teh courses & how the cars respond you'll either hate this game call it **** & Bin it or like me you'll agree that this is the best attempt at a proper Rally game since RBR.
These are early days so I don't know whether the game is properly consistent enough yet but I have got to the stage where I do feel it has the potential to be a Great game. It'll be interesting to see what others think & to see whether I feel the same way once I've played it for a fair while.

Nice review, hopefully I get my copy by the weekend!

Can I ask when you crash out on the narrow rally roads, is it like hitting a brick wall or is it quite realistic, only Ive not played a rally game for years and my last rally game was on pc and I remember if I left the rally track,.... well I just bounced back really. Seen a few videos where the snow banks flick up snow if your car gets to close.
