insurance price hike...

Admiral dont cover remap's and for any other mods they bump it up something silly so £390 sounds like a standard Mazda quote to me. :p

Again I need to call this one out, are you completely sure? I was with Admiral when I owned my Yaris and have multiple mods declared on that with no issue. I'm also with Bell (the same group) and have brakes / exhaust declared now with only a minimal premium increase.

I'm also baffled as to why you think they dont cover remaps. They even give you the option to be able to choose between a 0-10%, 10-25% or 25%+ power increase as a result of the remap and I've had no issues getting quotes with those selected when I've looked at other cars.

Do admiral cover the mods to actually replace them, or just to insure you to drive with them?

I'm sure I remember seeing something about them being quite happy to take extra from you for the mods, but in the event of an accident only paying out to put your car back to stock. It may not have been them to be fair.

I only said they don't cover remap's! They do cover other mods but IMO hike the price up to stupid money.
They wouldn't insure my ST with a remap and I had been with them for 3 years. They only cover chipping. And when I googled around i seen many a forum with people saying the same thing.

I have done it properly, if people want to start using this thread tomoan and moan about mods and crap then the mods can close it. I really dont care.

all I can say dav4 is that your wrong ;)

Good luck if you have to claim from them.

People say that about most insurers, being as most people don't plan to crash just go with the cheapest and cross that bridge if you come to it.

I paid £350 with Adrian Flux around November last year on an EP3 Type R which was a good £200 less than the quotes I was getting everywhere else so I snapped their hand off.

I have a feeling I will be paying considerably more when I renew at the end of this year.

Renewals will always be overpriced. As said by others they just prey on the lazy who will let it tick over at the inflated price. On my Adrian Flux renewal quote it even states to call them for a better offer.

Every year with Adrian Flux I've always managed to get it a little cheaper than the previous year. I just call them up after jumping on a comparison site, say I can get 'x' what can you do to better it and they always come good for me.

Cheapest it's ever been for me - £272 with Tesco this year, 29yr old, BMW 630i Convertible.

Renewal came in at £380 with AXA, think I paid £350 last year, they couldn't price match so went with Tesco.

Got my S2000 renewal through this morning. Smiles on my face

From Swiftcover.

Last year
Age 30
Postcode SE14
Just bought the car
SP30 1 month beforehand
Swiftcover multicar with 1 other car
They mirrored my 7 years NCD from my other car with them
£580

This year
Age 31
Postcode WR10
1 year ownership
sp30 13 months ago
Multicar
8 years NCD (separate from my other car yay)
protected NCD
legal cover
£298

Well happy with that. When I phone Sky last month as my other car was up for renewal the best they could do was £400.

Also just realised that this is £68 cheaper than my Octavia lol.

They only cover them, they wont pay for them or replace them.

I was song some rough ballpark quotes for my focus last month and axa were coming up cheapest (ironically who I'm already with). Decided to have another look yesterday and axa have more than doubled in price with aviva coming out cheapest. I assume they fluctuate on a regular basis. No doubt when I get my renewal through it will have changed again (renewal is due on 11th may.)

Yep I've just had my renewal through and they wanted £1k plus. So I went around did some quotes, ended up doing a quote on admiral which came out at £800 so admiral just transferred my details over. They are pretty good at matching your renewal with the deal on their website without much fuss.

I think they just try it on sometimes, expecting people who don't bother checking to renew automatically.

So in the end £800 for the year. My last car (last years quote) was £600 and when I did a quote earlier in jan with the new car I am 100% certain it was about £550 but never mind.

Automatic renewal quotes are designed to extract additional money from people who are to lazy to do anything about them when they arrive.

I know. Literally every year once I get the renewal notice through I am straight online to get a quote and they always match it without question. Hate to think how much money people waste by just auto renewing...

I know my sister doesn't bother ringing up or getting new quotes. :o

As others have said renewals take the p. Follow the usual mantra (courtesy of MSE):

your forgetting quidco

and the fact if you use compare the market you get a rare limited edition toy which can be sold for quite a bit of money so you can knock that off the price.

if compare the market comes back £10 dearer i'll go with them every time because i know i can sell the meerkat for £30 cash in hand within a week on gumtree.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Compare-t...922970?hash=item3ac10c77da:g:DS4AAOSwGYVXBgxl

selling on ebay for over £30 - that's a sold listing fyi.

basically the rules of car insurance are never auto renew and stick a reminder on your phone 30 days before it's up and then make a note on your pc/diary, etc. shop around 25 days before your renewal date so you can check to see if current insurer will price match with plenty of time to cancel or haggle.

check all cashback options or free offerings which can be sold. do all the maths then pick the cheapest.

When do they usually send out renewals? A week before these days? Can't remember when I got mine last year. I'm going to give mine another two weeks and then look to renew. I've got just over a month before mine is due.

mine came through on the 1st.

Its due on the 27th.

Insurance prices have gone up this year not helped by the insurance tax increase in November. This is the first year I have not been able to a get a cheaper price than my renewal which was £15 more than last year, I think I have bottomed out as its under £200 for the year.

My renewal came through this morning. £216 for the Alhambra. I guess I can try to get it cheaper elsewhere, but I doubt it'll be by much, and hooped filling in loads of details for the 4 named drivers and stuff, remaps and wheels. I would imagine it's not worth my time to repeatedly do that to maybe save £20 tops.
