Dirt Rally comes to Ps4 / Xbox One in april.

I've played a couple of stages now, wow it's going to take some practice.

It's much more of a sim than Dirt 3.

I'm playing with no assists, cockpit view on a controller.

I'm just uploading my first stage ever to youtube, i'll post a link when it's completed - you can have a laugh at my driving.

It's about £33 on the Russian store.

Stage one (still processing, but it will eventually be 1080p60) --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP9OlKSLJRA

Will set it off downloading later I think. I also have a youtube channel myself so ile upload some content there too :)

obviously its the better surface, but does anyone find the tarmac stages much easier? I mean obviously they're going ot be easier to drive on than snow, but I'd have thought the gap between me and the AI drivers would have stayed the same

I'm on my 1st Championship with the Renault Alpine and can safely say I struggle to get a green section in all the loose surface events (except the 1st stage on the 5th event, which for some reason is easy to get green...the AI drivers must crash every time!) - but tarmac I'd be disappointed if I wasn't pushing for 1st

Considering todays news I think Ill be buying this this month, hows it going for controller only gamers? Whats the SP campaign/MP like?

ps3ud0

Great fun here with a controller, Ive done a few online leagues but mainly championship career at present of which I'm in the beginner stages with the Renault alpine.

I've won a few stages and feel I can compete with Ai if I don't mess up, the Ai is tough which I like.

Im using no assists, well apart from auto gears! and use bonnet view but I might change back to cockpit view which I find very good in this game, most racers I've never got on with this view but in this its supprisingly good.

**one improvement this game really needs is better implementation of personal best times, they need to have a dedicated page that shows pb times on what tracks with what cars. It's a big thing that's missing.

The game is a lot of fun, i'm playing it with a controller.

In career i'm only in the beginner races in a Mini.

I had a few races online lastnight in the beginner rallycross that went well, they were only against one other player though.

I've only changed the buttons to the same as i use on Forza and putting the steering deadzone to zero. I'm going to play around with the sensitivity at some point.

I bought that rwd car you can have at the start. I hate it. Can't control it at all.

hi guys if you want to know anything about the game i can help. a wheel really does bring this game to life.

dont be too harsh on yourself as you learn. it can be pretty unforgiving.:D

id say start off with easy cars ad then move on to the harder faster group b cars ad then RWD.

cars like the Lancia stratos and lancia 037 will have you pulling your hair out at some point but when you do well in the harder cars it is so much more rewarding.

i have driven most tracks with most cars so if you fancy comparing to pc times ask or you can check my youtube channel. have over a 100 plus dirt rally videos world records and loads of top tens.

I bought the Mk2 Escort last night and jumped straight into the weekly 6 part rally.

The car was battered by the end as i needed more than 30mins of repairs between each stage to fix the car properly.

After driving the Escort, the daily stage in the R4 Impreza was really easy to drive, lol.

I've uploaded the footage if anyone is bored.

If you want a league to race in no matter what system you're on I've got leagues running for both XB1 and PS4, as I do for PC.

PC, XB1 and PS4 are running the same Stages with the same Weather on the same weeks, so that's kinda as close to cross-platform we'll get at this point. I'll be playing in them on my Dirt Rally live stream some time during the week, on some system. Probably PS4 or PC.

It's 2 links per console and 4 links for PC so just hit up my twitch channel and type !ps4 or !xb1 in the chat for the links. Or !pc for those guys then.

twitch.tv/vajbTV - Streaming evening time after 20 UK time.

Welcome!

Watched you before (friend maki put me onto you), damm...how fast are you? :P

Up to Pro level on the SP Rally section & my "Free" Mini finally downloaded when I switched the game on today so I gave that a spin out, Mini is well easy to drive compared to the others, Lacks top end speed but I shocked myself by finishing a Rally in 2nd place on Pro level in it.
Game really has got me on the edge of buying a wheel/peddle/stand set up as I know I'd be a fair bit quicker using them instead of the controller.

Bought a Thrustmaster T150 just for this game, absolutely loving it! Really adds to the immersion of driving, damm wheel is never straight. :D

Nowhere near the top guys in this stage/car combo, but boy....it did feel good crossing that finish line knowing i put in a good time (for me anyway).

Anything-but do you use any assists or custom car setups?

Nice run on that stage, I've been driving the same car on that course but keep fluffing up on some parts.

Just run with abs on 3, everything else is off. Not used stability control ect, but gonna try wean myself off abs over the weekend tho. :)

As for setups, I just tweak the gearing at the mo as most of my time is gained by learning the stages / cars rather than tweaking that little bit of rebound damping!
Most stages I'm chomping seconds off each try, but once I'm at the point where I'm struggling to match a time then it'll be the moment to get the spanners out and *try* gain the time through adjusting the setup.

Cool thanks, I might try with ABS on for a bit as well, I've gone straight in with all assists off but might be best to use some to learn the tracks.

I use clutch override as that helps keep the refs up when bogged down coming out of slow corners, a quick dab of the clutch keeps things moving.

I ran through the 80's Rally weekly event yesterday.

My RS500 was a bit battered at the start of the final night stage below, this was my first event in the car. I ended up 272nd (123rd with no assists) over the whole event, which is my best finish so far. Top of the middle tier on each of the 6 sections, so i should get around 360k for completing it.

I've turned off all HUD except the co-driver and display messages now, so i'm concentrating more on the driving.

definitely use no assists. you will be a lot quicker .

gearing is pretty simple.try shortest gearing all way to the left on a custom run. then try a longest gears all to the right. then just see which you prefer are quickest with. the car will handle different with short and long gearing.

if the car has differentials. i often lock then to the strongest.except for the vw polo which i leave standard.the renault 5 turbo i set the differential to the loosest setting .

many first gears are not very good by default so either make them longer or shorter to skip to second .

hope those tips help.

Got myself through to Elite class on SP Rally finishing 2nd overall, Still using the controller.

Weird for me when i see people playing with assists and hud and all that jazz...played with no assists, no HUD and in car view the entire time. This game needs VR...cannot wait.

The involvement you have with going manual is fantastic. Not sure how i'd play with automatic gears, i think it would always put me in the wrong gear.

Can anyone explain this to me?
I'm terrible at this game... I was terrible at CMR when it first came out, until I got used to it... but I try to drive properly, and end up crashing.
Then I got about halfway through a stage with a bit of a damaged car - looked to be just cosmetic... but just holding down the accelerator and steering. I had no problem sticking to the course, didn't crash off once.... what gives?
