Found a cockatiel, are they tasty?

He's got hair like those little troll dolls. Do you ever feel tempted to comb into funny styles? Judging by the colour and length, you could give him the Donald Trump imo.

Finds a bird, doesn't think of bread?:D

Damn things will eat anything, give it a chili and you'll have a new best friend. :)

As already said, birds like bread, but it isn't very good for them. Fills them up but hardly provides any nutrition that they need.

(We feed ours caviare served with a wheatgerm jew, garnished with poppy seeds and lightly sprinkled with creme du cocque.)

The crest goes up and down (flat) based on mood. You can't comb it, attempt to and you might get a finger full of beak :D

Pics of Cockatiel?

Great pet birds they are!

They will eat most things crunchy, mine liked eating dry cereal, or flying over when I was eating anything to investigate and maybe help himself to a small piece of grub.

Liked?? What did you do to it? They can live until older than you are!

Don't really want to let it out the cage for a better pic. Probably stress it out having to catch it again.

Household is less active these days so was given to cousins. These birds need constant attention and company and not spending hours on end in a cage.

I remember sitting watching Youtube videos with him on my shoulder, he'd watch and sing... then poo on my shirt... :D

Quite a well fed one! Although that cage is rather small for that size of bird :(

Hope its owner is found!

Yeah it is. Rather a "wtf do I have for this?" moment. Cats aren't interested in it thankfully so I guess it could be allowed free roam of the room it's in.

Hopefully it's chipped and I can get it back to its owner tomorrow. Otherwise I guess I'm buying a bigger cage and learning to look after one :D.

Better image.

Quite happily munching on seeds/banana/cauliflower/cucumber.

Left cage open but doesn't seem interested in leaving it.

To be fair I probably would be if a random thing stuffed me in a cage after I'd escaped from somewhere :D.
Crest up is curious or startled, it's when it's flat against the head that you need to put some distance between you and the beak :). It's very rare for cockatiels to be chipped (they're just too small for it) so best thing to do is put up some local ads and post on forums. Does she have a ring on her leg? The number on there might help in tracking down the owner.

There's a bit more advice here: http://talkcockatiels.com/showthread.php?t=31424

Whereabouts are you, roughly? Might be worth sounding out any local parrot breeders or owners groups. Not suggesting I want another one, 2 is enough for me to handle... but she is cute :D

I've put an advert up on parrotalert that cosmio kindly found. Not on pet register as the details they want from me indicate they're selling data.

Hadn't thought of gumtree. I'll give that a shot. I'm in Reading south east if that helps?

She/he doesn't have a ring on their ankle. First thing I checked would have been worth the nip if it had :D.
