Love this game, on my third play through, such an addictive and satisfying game.

Took me countless tries to defeat the keeper of the old lords in the defiled chalice dungeon, now I've got the watchdog who seems to be equally as the tricky.

Missed out on the sale price for The Old Hunters! Probably wait until it's on sale again, fingers crossed.

Didn't find the watchdog that hard to be honest. Thats the one that does the charge move right? There is one of the bosses in the chalice dungeons I really struggled with but I can't remember its name. Its funny how different people find certain bosses either a piece of **** or almost impossible and then that same person struggles with a boss the other person breezes.

The dog just felt hard in a cheap way for the sake of it! Pushed through solo though took ages!

I agree that each player takes bosses differently! Like orenstein and smough on ds, did it first go and only later found many say it was one of the hardest, then i struggled on the end boss for ages when he is infact also **** :D

Blood starved beast takes a lot of people a long time it seems but I had no issue with them after the first time. Always found dark beast paarl tricky though.

Im just stuck on this game now. After Rom and im just dying constantly....kinda feel at level 42 im too low and should grind but its taking so long!

Best place to grind anyone?

Early on I used old Yharnham for grinding, from the beginning all the way through to the blood starved beast and then later on at Mergo's Loft Middle (the 2 large pigs) current level 200+ on my third play through.

I'm struggling with the dog in the defiled chalice dungeon, so you only have half your health bar, the dog can wipe you out with 2 hits :(

My issue is that I've played the majority with a friend so I've always had help...being helped through the game has naturally made it easier so when I'm on my own I'm just getting creamed. I'm going to equip some runes tonight I think and research the best run for where I'm at.

I'm literally just past Rom, I was hoping I was close to the end... :|

Close to the end! You have loads and loads to look forwards to!

This is one game that I never hoped I was near the end of.

Get the beckoning bell and help other people do certain bosses.

I beat the Bloodstarved Beast and would help people beat him for ages, I gained so much insight and blood echoes (circa 1,000,000) that I could level up loads in one quick go

I did some of that last night with Vicar Amelia....she seems to be the easiest to grind at the minute.

You can upgrade your weapon with Blood Rocks, you only get two in the game though. One in the main game and one in the DLC, but you can now buy them for 60 insight as well. So that's what I'd spend my insight on.

When you start doing the game more than once you end up with 99 insight quite easily and about 200 more insights worth of items. At one point I was buying crap with it to lower it but once they allowed you to buy blood rocks with them I just upgraded my weapons.

Yeah that's true.
I haven't bothered with NG+ it will offer nothing to me except more of a challenge on bosses and I get that anyway when I help others.

I earned 800,000 blood echoes fighting the final boss, that guy must have been on NG+6 or something.

Ordered goty copy today. Was going to buy months ago but didn't get round to it. Should keep me busy til dark souls 3 goty comes out.
Any advice apart from a bucket load of patience?

My top tips would be to learn opponents moves. Learn to roll really well and personally I'm a big fan of parrying. If you shoot most enemies (apart from the really big monsters) while they are just about to strike it will stagger them. You hear a tone and they drop to their knees. You can then perform a viceral attack which takes loads of their health away. Later in the game you can get an item that allows you to recover your health from it as well. Super useful basically.

Finally, I don't know if you have played souls games but there are loads of shortcuts in this so if you can, explore an area and unlock these shortcuts otherwise you will find that its a long way to get to a boss fight and you will have to kill a lot of stuff in between.

Cheers for advice fez.
What should I be spending my points in when I level up, apparently strength and endurance for a newbie.

Health, and then whatever scales best with your weapons.

Health is pretty important though imo, as there's nothing more annoying than getting one shot.
