To be fair, I think the thing that convinced me the R8 V10 was right was this...

Bikes weren't going for it to be honest, they had plenty of acceleration left at those speeds, 280kmh would be where the car comes back though, aerodynamics etc

Just seen the thread after looking at the "Images of items I have purchased." post.

Probably best to keep the discussion here :)

Three of us with R8s now? Hopefully we can get to the same OcUK meet some time this summer?

And lol at Robbie with the fisting again! He can't help himself !

I like the car stiffer and I will be taking it on track, Anglesey July 1st if not sooner somewhere else. To your point on the other thread, I am more of a push on driver than motorway user, I seek out great quiet roads and make my journeys longer so I can enjoy the cars I own. This R8 is a pussycat in terms of ride and handling compared to my GT3 and Ceramics will bind a bit when around town, i.e. cold. I prefer the stiffer ride and mag ride though fantastic is less good when pushing on or on track.

Happy to meet up when time allows, Ive got a few hoons lined up already and meets with car friends as for the last 4 years, frankly the last 7 years of 530D and RS4 I've never really been that bothered. Nothing worse than going to meet a bunch of mates for a hoon when they turn up in 918's, P1's, Aventadors, Macca, CGT's etc etc etc :(

Now I feel closer

To your point about the buckets, I had them in my RS4. The key is set up and seat time. You need to adjust the side buffers to get the support, they should offer more than the standard seats.

To be fair we need a proper meet and at the back of my very very distant mind, I did consider organising one where I live as we have 'some land' that could host it and some good roads around. But I am scared some of you smell and eat from bins and I believe some people have Rover's so there would need to be rules :D

Looks awesome! The closest I've got to driving one of these was an early Gallardo on a supercar day. Very fast and the engine (despite being thrashed every day by the great unwashed) was a peach!

I have to say an early V8 would be high on my list of purchases even though it'll never be as awesome as the V10, I think they look fantastic and 9/10 people would never know the difference... Including me driving it probably! It would potentially save thousands on Porsche tax too which seems to be insane at the moment.

Elite crew only meets used to be the way forward

You mean sideways.

Into a hedge.

But in all seriousness even the south west piston heads group have taken their meets off the public forum and only meet via Facebook now. Can't keep the riff raff out any other way. Its not a car or money thing as I was a poor student in a 13 year old mx 5 but more and more idiots kept turning up to public events.

Getting banned from cheddar was the final straw I think.

They were not great riders, bikes need great riding at that speed to stay with a car when bends get big.
