Wow, what a TV!

My friend asked me on Thursday what TV to recommend for £800......so I convinced him to double his budget and buy an OLED

It's the EG910V model

Personally after owning numerous Panasonic and Pioneer Kuro plasmas, I have never seen picture quality like this before. The black borders on widescreen movies are just ink black, which makes you think you are watching a 21:9 ratio TV.

Now I just need to work out how I can convince the mrs to re-arrange our lounge so I can buy one :cool:

I wished the photos below did this TV justice, but they don't come close. You have to see one in a home environment for yourself.

I only replaced my PC Logitech Z-5500 speakers about 8 months ago..

But the small ruark audio MR1 speaker setup I replaced it feels like a downgrade due to no sub and cost almost twice the price...

Shame about the curve on the TV. The Star Wars text being off due to curve sets of my ocd.

Did he/she have Tron Legacy? I remember one time seeing it on OLED. Oh it was so yummy. The blacks were so dark some looked oily, some very deep but matt. There were so many gorgeous shades of black. Especially when Rinzler first made his appearance.

Nice but doubled his budget of £800? How much did he pay exactly?

The 4K model is currently discounted to £1999 as it's about to be replaced by the E6/G6 - I'd seriously have stretched the extra few hundred to that.

well, he actually paid £1,250. I was using top gear maths

decided against 4k as he only has 3mb internet (lives out in a small village) and doesn't want to invest in 4k optical media.

I really want one myself now.

Actually £1250 isn't bad - I was just thinking if he'd paid nearer £1600 for it then would have been a false economy not going the extra for the 4K model

I want an OLED too, problem is I want the £3500 E6

Every time I consider replacing my Logitech Z5500 speaker system, which I have had for years, I then seem to just appreciate them more...!
Whilst they don't accept an HDMI input, and I now have to use a USB sound stick to get SPDIF out from my Raspberry Pi 3, they do still sound pretty damn impressive and Logitech have never replaced them with anything worth changing to.

The OLED TV looks pretty good, apart from it being curved, but I'll still get some use out of my GT50 50" Plasma until OLED come down a little more and 4k might be worth thinking about.

As soon as OLEDs get decent response times for gaming, I'll be all over them. I considered getting one just for movies, but can't quite justify that!

From the reviews I've read, I was under the impression that OLED's inherent response time was excellent, or is this not the case?

So far they've ranged from poor to rubbish response wise. The best I've seen is mid 30s

Blacks are amazing on OLEDs. At the moment only reason to buy it.

Sounds like you mean input lag rather than pixel response times. From what I gather, OLED has basically instant pixel response but input lag is around 34ms on the latest LG models.
