I live close to Wakefield near Leeds, the first bang sounded like someone had forcibly kicked my front door, I went outside and then there was another bang and I felt the air pressure. I thought it was an air burst from a meteor or something, I had no idea sonic booms were that loud over such a wide area

I remember years back waiting to hear the nightly sonic boom from Concorde until the doo gooders forced it to change route and it was no longer allowed to be supersonic over land.

It was bloody loud, but awesome none the less.

To a degree you are wrong, Yes Concorde did get supersonic out at sea, yet it was still over Land, if you can consider the Isles of Scilly to be land......... Many people there could set there clocks to her breaking the sound barrier.
