Wedding day booked...

Probably something I didnt mention in the Op as the current plans were done well after that was posted. The granparents have paid for the reception do after the ceremony. We have paid for the Reg office, decorations, missus Car tyo take her to office, holiday next week, and a few other bits and bobs.

To be fair, they have paid for a few other bits too. I guess our original idea was to go to Ibiza like ROSSI. But the GPs said thats not fair on them or others who cant fly/pay for hotel etc. Mrs DG back then was in a bad place so to speak and thats when it all went the way of pleasing everyone else.

At the end of the day its all done. Tomorrow is our big day. We are planning on renewing our vows that sort of thing in a few years down the line. That WILL be in Ibiza with some friends and close family. If they don't like it they can do one .

Ah, didn't realise that this was a thread bump!

Enjoy your day! :)

(I take back what I said about the grandparents, if they've contributed then they can indeed pull some strings...)

:D

My other half and I are planning to get married next year. We too have no interest in spending tens of thousands for hundreds of people for one day so have opted for the Vegas route. A week there and 5 days in new york afterwards costing in region of 2.5K for flights and hotels.

Anyone who wants to join us is welcome on the trip for the ceremony (not by Elvis, thats one step too far imo) but they can pay their own way and make a holiday of it. Parents will most likely be disappointed by it not being a lavish affair like our cousins all tended to be but too bad :D.

Awesome! Have a fantastic day

We took the small and very low key approach to our wedding. For us, being married was more important than the act of getting married and rather than have people tell us we were doing it wrong, try and sell us every add-on service under the sun or get the hump about not being invited we just didn't tell anyone we were even planning anything.

We had 6 guests (Immediate family only) plus a photogrpaher who was an old work colleague (that we only decided to bother with a few weeks beforehand) who were the only people to know we were engaged, had a registry office ceremony followed by a meal in a restaurant. A few months later we had a bit of a party to give the rest of our friends/family the opportunity to celebrate with us. It was a great day, much less stressful than planning some big event and we had fun just changing our facebook status to "Married" with no warning!

My view is the wedding is for the wife and husband to get married its not some free **** up for distant family and friends.

To be honest its hardly free for the guests either.

The last wedding we went to cost us near on £600 for the two of us.
Days off work
Hotels
New hair do's (mostly the OH as I shave mine for nowt)
New suit
New outfit for the OH and a hat and shoes and a new bag because it doesnt match the new shoes.
Travel
Oh and the present for the happy couple...That was probably the cheapest bit.

Not that I begrudged it..Just highlighting that its not "Free" for the guests.

It sounds as though you made it expensive... :p

what's wrong with turning up in jeans and a t-shirt? and kipping on the marital room floor

How do I add images on here via drop box? I know how to link images from my old webspace though I take it's not the same way?

Stick them in the "Public" folder on your drop box account and then there is a "SHARE" link button to give you the share link.

then post the link in the img tags

This is it guys.

Very excited for today. Had lots of good luck messages on my phone and facebook to read when I woke up a bit ago. My baby boy is all vocal too, probably wanting his breakfast. Shirts ironed, suits hanging, just need to have a shower and shave and get ready. I have still got time to relax.

A few people coming round later in the morning so that will pass the time and take my mind off things. Plus my lad will keep me occupied.

God, it feels weird. :)
