*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Had my ps4 for two weeks now. I notice when playing games it intermittently makes a high pitched humming noise for a couple of seconds. Is this normal?

Not sure quite what type of noise you mean, as to me a 'humming noise' can't really be that high pitched by definition :p

But I do sometimes get a somewhat higher pitched hum for a few seconds as if something is working hard and then it goes back to normal. I think its usually when games are loading up though...can't remember.

You described it perfectly. Yeah not sure why I said humming! Glad im not the only one with this.

Probably vibration when the disc is spinning up. Some models are a bit wonky and if it's on a glass surface the vibration can be quite noisy. Sticky pads or a bit of blutac underneath the corners can sort it.

Is Beyond Two Souls worth getting for the extra £4? I'm already going to get Heavy Rain for £11.99 but not sure whether to just go for the bundle. I don't know anything about BTS but it got middling reviews.

The £4 might be better served going towards one of the Wolfenstein games which I haven't played yet.

BTS was brilliant imo, well worth full price, let alone 4 quid!

I picked up both via PSN the other night, but have so much else to play/finish, I'll not know when I'll touch them :(

Thanks for the heads up, got heavy rain and B2S, bargain.

Must admit I picked up heavy rain and Beyond two Souls, I played a good percentage of Heavy Rain - its not aged as well as I'd hoped but its nice to play it again without the awful screen tearing. And its a great game as well

Sadly Uncharted 4 and just got an X1 for forza 6 means these games are now heading to my backlog.

I was not playing games for months, but last week I've found new life in gaming again and well into games - so plenty to keep me busy now.

Seems a break does help with gaming fatigue.. : - )

I've not played games for any significant period for a few months, only like 15% into Rise of TR was my last real stint. Holding off on uncharted 4 until I finished the Nathan Drake collection, which I've not made a dent yet.

I liked Beyond more than Heavy Rain largely due to the better story and better acting. Heavy Rain had an interesting concept but the dialogue was atrocious.

I imagine Beyond will look really nice on the PS4, it was a fantastic-looking PS3 game.

Is it worth owning both consoles, I have an Xbox one at the moment but thinking about getting a ps4 for the exclusives. The last of us, uncharted etc, not really sure if it's worth it though, I hear the ps4 is more powerful and runs games better

Anyone here own both consoles

Only got PS4 but I'm mainly a PC gamer who wanted to play the Uncharted series and the rather excellent The Last of Us.

Considering an XBOne for Gears of War and Halo now.

I've had both. I baught an Xbox one when Halo came out, totally drawn in to the hype. Did enjoy it for awhile and it was good to play with some old mates from work. My main group of friends play PS4 which was the reason I switched over, in retrospect, my Xbox pals where more active.

It's personal preference, but I like to game with others. Maybe just look at the exclusives and see which of the titles you prefer. And base your decision on that.

I have both - and so glad I do.

It'll start a massive flame-on to gripe about one or the other, but from my first hand experience; the PS4 (for me!!!!!) is the better of the two for many reasons.

PS4 exclusives really are worth playing, the Uncharted games (even the old remastered ones) are massively enjoyable, only just started #4 - but it is shaping up to be an epic! And The Last Of Us is to-date, my own favourite game ever... the story, the presentation, the setting... the whole thing!

If you can afford it, why not - it's great not having to be stuck with one, and pledge allegiance to it; you get everything, and can decide for yourself which you prefer; if you ever feel the need to.

In a word YES. they are both great for different reasons.

It's worth it for TLOU alone, it's a gaming masterpiece that everyone should experience.

When you add in Bloodborne, Uncharted Collection and Uncharted 4 it's a no brainer.

I own both and primarily game on my One because that's where my friends play, but i'm very happy I bought and own a PS4. It lashes all over the One where the exclusives are concerned imho.
