Manchester Police forced to apologise for "Racial Stereotyping" during mock attack

I know if I was in a crowded place and heard somebody shout "Allah ackbar!", I'd be hitting the deck or legging it. In that sense it's a perfect reason to keep it in the training exercise!

I have to agree though it's a bit ******* stupid, it was like the Irish complaining of being 'profiled' during the IRA terrorism, well, no **** sherlock we were looking for micks :p

You have, presumably accidentally, made the opposite point. Even covering centuries and going back over 400 years to the worst of the conflict between Christians and Christians doesn't come close to just the last few years of the conflict between Islam and everything and everyone else.

Perhaps if modern weapons and population densities been around ~400 years ago the scale of Christian terrorism back then would have been similar to the scale of Islamic terrorism today, but that's not a real counter. A real counter has to have at least some relevance to reality.

[..]
What are your opinions on this? Should they have been forced to apologise or is this a case of PC groups sticking their fingers in their ears and pretending that Islam isn't the most significant terrorist threat to the UK right now?

The latter. Exercises should at least try to be realistic and that's part of reality today regardless of how many people demand it be ignored for the sake of a political agenda.

Calling it racial stereotyping is obviously a false accusation which has succeeded solely due to the power of those making it. That's a very dangerous precedent. It has nothing to do with "race". Islam isn't a race any more than any other religious/political ideology is a race. That's a silly lie that should be ridiculed rather than taken seriously.

Tbh, hearing the story on the news now it seems it was one copper who did it, probably in the 'excitement' and to be funny, rather than being a procedural part of the excercise

i think, at least i hope, he was making an ironic / funny comment.

I'm no fan of political correctness but having someone shout Allahu Ackbar or anything else at all has no impact on the exercise or anyone's training or effectiveness does it so it does seem a bit silly and pointless. Was obviously going to provoke a reaction and it doesn't help build relationships with the Muslim community given that the phrase isn't solely used by terrorists (in fact quite the opposite).

I completely agree. Makes zero difference to the validity of the exercise to say it, so why bother.

Look at his previous posts and you'll see he's not. He's another guy who whenever anyone mentions Islamic terrorism tries to either say 'other people do it too' or 'it's the west's own fault' or 'tiny minority'.
