Bought myself a bargain barge

Guessing you must be approaching retirement right?

I wouldn't be seen dead driving around in that thing.. not even that cheap.

Your type isn't suitable for that kind of car, doesn't matter about age. I'm sure you are more at home in a fiesta because your mates RS focus is well fast.

How reliable are these?
Do you they come up with big bills?

Some are going for 2.5k on autotrader with FSH etc :o
Would buying one to do about 3-4k a year be a stupid idea??

pI'm loving it, the style isn't my cuppa, however, tbh, it's gonna last and it's NOT a BMW which for me, just keep svariety going. Hope you like it fella... bet it's well comfy just blasting down a motorway!!!

They never die and are cheap to maintain. That's why people buy them :P

You could buy one of those old BWMs, but they are almost guaranteed to go expensively wrong.

Howard is right, though. I'm not sure i would expect an early E65 to be anything other than a total nightmare of exploding coolant systems and general niggles with the winCE idrive system :p

2006 E65 driver here. Thankfully no coolant or idrive issues but hosed about £4k into it this year in maintenance. I keep telling myself that it's ok though, because at least now pretty much everything is new....

The Lexus is a beauty though :)

Neil, how would you assess the audio quality of the Mark Levinson system? I'm guessing it doesn't have bluetooth phone prep (I don't mean A2DP). Without doing a load of googling, do you know if it is easy to retrofit some sort of USB input for memory stick/iPod/iPhone via a CD Changer input?
As Rilot Said, there's options to plug into the cd changer with a y cable IIRC.

I'd rather 'suffer' with a slightly reduced interior aesthetic (still with stonking levels of comfort and refinement) in return for vastly improved reliability though :).
Bingo!

I think the high price is more to do with the 1 owner thing. Great cars.
I agree though, not a bargain compared to other examples but certainly a good buy with that history.
Yep, top end money I agree but all the other ones I looked at were wrecks needing work and rust issues being sold by wideboys lol :/

OP failed. This is what he should have gone for:

At least the old 7 series hasn't aged quite so badly.
LMAO! I just got rid of a BMW that threw a big bill, why would I want more of that?

This /\/\/\

I don't care what anyone thinks of it, it serves a purpose and it's very good at what it's designed for :)

PS I'm 30 and it gets great thumbs up from car geeks and non car geeks alike.

It's the type of car that looks like it's been made with purely comfort and waft in mind without a care in the world for what people may think about the exterior styling.

And that is perfectly alright

Whereas M3 convertibles on the other hand....:p

Not sure what an M3 has to do with this discussion but even so, when has one ever focused on comfort and waft? :p
