How much do you drink?

I'm pretty surprised how little people on here drink really.

Pretty much anything social in my life including the social element of work involves drinking.

What do you guys do with friends when you go out?

I've not drunk for 6 months. Like the person above says, my social life doesn't include alcohol. I'd rather run, climb, cycle, walk, camp etc. I'll happily have a meal with people who are having a few drinks but I don't want to waste my time just sitting in a pub.

I do all those things as well as train martial arts. Doesn't change the fact that going out with friends always includes drinking.

For many going to the gym is socialising, they're not empty places you know.

It's more lol than you need to drink to socialise to be honest.

Sigh.

I don't have to drink, my comment was more that everything social in this country involves going out drinking.

but it doesn't? Being social doesn't mean you've got to go down the pub or out for a meal and drink. Any activity you're doing with others is socialising.

Must just be my group of friends then. If I suggested we all go to the gym together Saturday night I can't imagine I'd have any takers.

I don't drink that much.

In the house:

Every now and then I'll have a glass of whisky to settle my nerves after watching the BBC and realising what a degenerate civilization we live in... I'll occasionally buy a case of Peroni or whatever too.

Socially:

I drink in moderation usually. I used to go out and get steaming, but these days I am pretty reserved on the drinking front. I've never needed it to loosen up anyway.

For younger people i think going out drinking is a key part of socialising and it is our culture which has made it so. Yes there are young people who don't drink and yes you can socialise in other ways but now celebrations mostly involve going to the pub, as well as most forms of 'courting' be it going out to get smashed and pulling on a sticky dance floor or meeting up with someone for a casual drink on tinder.

This is not a justification for drinking, drinking is just a habit born of our culture though it seems to be dying out gradually.

I don't drink now as I just don't really see the point of drinking for drinkings sake. Sure have an occasional nice wine or beer with a meal, but other than that, why bother. Last drink I had a was a glass of champagne at a friends wedding back in September.

Some people feel more relaxed after a drink or two, many enjoy the taste.

I'm quite honest when it comes to alcohol (I do think some play it down, not saying anyone here is though). On average I'll have 1-2 cans of 4% Lager on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - then I'll have 3-5 pints on a Friday and Saturday.

I genuinely enjoy a beer after a full day at work, and definitely look forward to one or two with the football (hence the evenings). That said, I can quite easily go without, some weeks I randomly have 4 nights off or so without realising. I guess it is down to the football fixtures or if Im busy doing house work etc.

Blimey, every day?

I only drink on occasions, birthdays n weddings etc.

Drinking every day is only a problem if you drink enough to effect your health, work-life or family life.

There is nothing wrong with a drink every day if your body/wallet/missus is perfectly capable of handling it. Three pints a day may seem like a lot but to be honest, i swear it was proven that up to 13 units a day can be drank without harm to health, given the rate of which it is drank.

It is not the amount that harms you but the amount given the rate you drink. Your liver is put under more stress if it has to sort out a bottle of wine in an hour compare to that bottle of wine in 3.
