Radeon AIB Partners "Frustrated" at AMD

BFG were also set to go amd only before they went down the crapper, i remember seeing some bfg radeon boxes pictured shortly after :(

That's assuming AMD are still around by then!

I doubt AMD can survive another round this year.

TBH I wish they'd go under sooner rather than later. At least it will be a complete end to the fanboy wars here.

All we'll have to choose from will be NVIDIA. No arguing, debating, ridiculing, trolling etc.

Sooner it comes, then sooner we can all move on from enthusiast forums like this one - it will be pretty boring when everyone's running the exact same hardware IMO.

Oh, no. No, no. no, no. You'd think so woudn't you, but no. The release of new cards from Nvidia alone is alone cause endless speculation in the other threads, "debate", bickering, arguing, trolling and endless speculation about very little at all. And no-one even needed to mention AMD at all.

You're the one who seems to be trying to instigate something. If you think a market monopoly is good, then I hope Nvidia take all of your money

Ah, didn't know that. Had a BFG 8800GT which went bumbgate. Think it still had some of it's 3 years warranty left but when I looked into it, BFG had gone bankrupt :(

Always wondered if RMA'ing those huge number of Nvidia solder defect cards did them in (didn't they have lifetime or 10 year warranty in the US?)

If they were truly thinking of going AMD-only before they went bankrupt bumbgate might have been the reason.

They were a great company and their RMA service was stellar. I got a 8800GTX from them near launch day, 8 months later it started cutting out signal a bit a crashing. RMA'd it to them, and the next week I had a brand new 8800 Ultra with a t-shirt from them as well.

It's a darn shame they went under. I'd certainly buy a GPU off them these days if they were still around.

And some were saying pascal rushed to market. What they going to drop? You cant just bring forward a launch by 6 months without something giving

Some of the Nvidia herd wishing AMD is gone is a pPathetic attitude imo. Much as I don't like Nvidia's business practices I wouldn't wish them going bankrupt since we need competition in this market. A single GPU company would not be beneficial at all for consumers.

Aside from prices there would be the problem of driver neglect for older hardware (planned obscelence) when new cards come out. We may then be forced to upgrade every year or two since we wouldn't be able to tell if the hardware is getting weak or it's actually the drivers being gimped.

As for Polaris, I hope it's close to Fury X performance for a cheap price otherwise it's not going to be pretty.

Who has said they wish AMD gone?

Hm, sounding more and more like Polaris genuinely isn't going to be very fast (and by fast I mean Fury X/ 980Ti + levels of performance)

i was under the impression polaris was always going to be a 380 replacement :/

Why everyone saying this is bad for AMD lol. It's a GOOD thing for AMD to come out second. They know what the competition has been marketed as and can beat it. They can come out and say "you've seen the 1070 and the 1080, these are our cards and they are better because..."

Good things come to those who wait. You can't say anything bad about AMD until you have seen their new cards. They could destroy Pascal for all we know.

A strategy which worked brilliantly for the FuryX.

Oh wait no, I mean worked terribly and was a huge fiasco.

You're forgetting the 1070 will only be £50 more or so, and will have drastically improved performance over Polaris.

Looking at Nvidias current prices I find that extremely hard to belive. I will believe it when I see it. I don't care who my next card comes from, I have no brand loyalty for anything, it just has to be worth the upgrade, power efficient and sub £200.

I can see it now, the new Polaris stuff is going to replace the 270 / 280 series of gpu's, and the Vega stuff is going to be Fiji variants!

After all the money they invested in Fiji, i cannot see them letting it go without their normal Rebrandeon treatment.

Vega will probably be a rehashed version of Fiji with new GCN1.4 stuff lobbed in, and of course "An Overclockers Dream"....

I can see the massive wave of fail sweeping towards us already hahahah

That was a massively dumb post.
Vega has nothing to do with Fiji, just as Polaris has nothing to do with Hawaii.
They are all totally new chips.

Hah thats what they want you to believe!!!

in all seriousness though, i would not put it past AMD rebranding Fiji somehow to try and offload that particular turgid dungheap of a card, its not like they dont have prior when it comes to Rebranding cards and shovelling them out the door.

If the Polaris stuff does not hit the level in performance and price of the 1070 then i cant see a way forward for AMD, i kid you not, Nvidia will absolutely clean house with that 1070 *IF* it matches the performance its reportedly supposed to have.

Look at the 970, that thing sold in droves, regardless of the fact it had gimped memory, people love that card, they lapped it up, then add in the psychological fact the new card is named a 1070 (its a 100 times better card now no???) has 8GB of Ram and reportedly spars with an 980ti for a mouth watering £350 +/- a few squid, AMD are going to need their card to unzip your pants and give you a damn good time for less money, thats for sure.
