Genuinely curious about this.

I have used many forums on the net such as XDA Developers, among others and found that there was always a lot of hostility between people making it quite abrasive.
Personally OCUK is my go to forum, because the environment and people are awesome - GD is fantastic and if you need anything you will get an answer in the other sections of OCUK.
Along with banter in between all those things :p

So, what makes you guys use the OCUK forums, and what makes you continue using is?

Just the general community. These forums have helped me so much, not only with tech questions that I have needed answers to over the years, but with many other aspects too.

So highlights for me:

Needing a friend to have a chat to and keep me entertained on Christmas eve, posted on here, Confused (Gary)said he lived a few miles down the road and he was happy to have me round for the evening. I have met him numerous times since and we have become very good friends.

Meeting Luke, Ben and Nathan in similar manners (one through chickens, one through wanting to borrow my camera and one... urm, I can't remember the other haha)

Helping members such as Colin with his sleeving and him being an awesome member in return, again, we have spoken many times since.

Me posting wanted threads about things i need urgently (such as spare tubing or parts) and having someone always pull through.

Posting very recently asking to borrow a hand held device and having yourself and MrZippo pull through and offer me them to borrow.

People on here are generally VERY kind, they realise we are all very similar and are happy to help each other. When a well known member has a problem, the community really does pull together and help out.

This forum is one of my most used ones tbh.

@davido_labido I replied back to your email, been uber busy sorry about the wait let me know once you have it about the handheld device.

Great sum up, project logs are one of the things I find really interesting, there is so much talent and Creativity

It's such a great general forum. Topics covered are all things I like, computing, food, movies, TV shows, sports. No one is bullied on here, if they are its swiftly dealt with, everyone is genuinely helpful, the debates are actually pretty good. Lots of good opinions. Just because you dont agree with an opinion doesn't make it bad or make the opinionator (if thats a word)Enoch Powell II.

Just the best forum I've ever been a part of tbh.

I love you all *sniff sniff*

The brilliant admin team.

Shame about the Dons, and don't even get me started on the UBs.

I don't really bother with computers these days and my knowledge of them has decreased significantly over the years, but I remain a member because it's a great community that I know I can always count on for a laugh, advice, etc.

I used to go on other forums as well, but gradually became bored with them because they're just not the same. I don't think any other forum even comes close to this one.

To keep in the know about PC tech - I had a year or two "out of the loop" when I met my girlfriend and was amazed at how much changed on the PC front.
