What would your reply have been to this.-

A cheque? £100 was a small fortune in the 90s.

Cancelling it seems a good option, along with a reply pointing out how damn ungrateful they are.

Call me Sir Scott Skeptical of Skepticismshire, winner of the World Cynicism Championships held in the village of Nihilist.......but I somewhat doubt the £100 claim made by the Mumsnet OP.

I suspect it was more like a tenner but they exaggerated under the guise of anonymity to garner further ire for their situation.

Well I'm King Scott Skeptical of Skepticismshire, winner of the World Cynicism Championships held in the village of Nihilist.......but I think IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
Just a made up thread on Mumsnet unless somebody comes forward pointing a finger at a cheque while looking sad.

I agree with most of you, cancelled and ignored.

I hate giving wedding gifts, for my closer friends I have always given up a day of my time and taken over the running of the day for them instead. They have all appreciated that more than any sum of money as they trusted me to deal with any issues on their behalf.
