Praise Allah to be on British buses

Another example, my 8 year old son saw the "no to Racism" football advert then asked me what racism was? so they have put the idea was racism into a young persons mind when they didn't need to.

haha yeah, seen this for sexism too - when they tell girls they "can do everything boys can do" - as if they'd ever thought otherwise.

I've always gone on the basis that if you don't want something to be an issue then stop making it an issue. The above illustration for example, those that made this advertisement are just as bad as those they oppose because they are making just as much as an issue of it..

The biggest victims when people make a big deal out of it are the moderates associated with the in your face campaigners. For example: the original idea of feminism is being undermined today by the feminazi types.

Just my opinion.. Counts for nothing.

But surely in that situation it's lead to a constructive discussion between father and son about racism. What it is and why it's bad? Is that not a good thing?

Well you could argue that even if he carries no prejudices, it is constructive for him to be aware that racism does exist because other people may act like that around him or to him. At the same time you could argue the introduction of the term racism and an explanation of what it is may carry enough thought to make him ask 'is there a good reason why people dislike this group or that group?'.

Personally, i see nothing wrong with teaching your kid about racism but i also see little need in introducing the idea to an 8 year old beyond telling him that people are prejudice for any number of reasons and that it is bad.

Although I'm as straight as an arrow, I'd much rather see this on the side of buses. I really don't care much for religion.

I agree but I'd like to know what people with views such as billysielu's think of this poster. According to their logic I'm assuming they think posters like this are gay propaganda? Or those posters a few years ago which said "There probably isn't a God" are those atheist propaganda?

Shouldn't it be written in English, seeing as that's the official language spoken here?

It doesn't have to be written in any language it's merely typography used as imagery as its not the informational part of the actual poster. It's merely the "image" part of a poster as it contains no information, if you look to the left and right sides of the poster you will find that the the information on what the "image" is about is written in plain English.

If you do chose to visit their charity's website I'm certain it will be in plain English and if you do choose to sign up I'm certain they will provide paperwork in English.

As an atheist I wouldn't give a ****. Same as the Allah ones or God ones.

Anyone has the right to buy ad space, as long as it doesn't break the rules (false claims etc.) then I see no issue.

Saying 'Praise Allah' doesn't make any false claims, you could just as easily have one saying praise Iron Man :p

I keep hearing it is ok as long as it doesn't make any false claims, any religion is false so shouldn't be allowed to advertise at all.

I also agree that this one is in bad taste.

You've completely not understood raikiri's post at all haven't you.

No one is advertising a religion here. It's a religious charity. And their slogan is "praise God". If you're a muslim and you want to assume that's referring to the Islamic idea of god that's you're choice. It doesn't say "become Muslim" or anything whatsoever to that effect and if you honestly do feel enticed to become muslim after merely seeing the words "praise God" I really do feel sorry for you.

Personally I'm not bound to any religion so when someone talks about god it's simply God alone not tied to any man made religion. And if someone wants to praise whatever they think God is then good for them but that's another story because God is evidently evil.

I love how people automatically get up in arms at the first sign of anything remotely muslamic though. :D

Keep your knickers on love

I have not assumed anything, how have you come up with all that crap from what was in my post, i said any religion, that rant above has hardly anything to do with my post.

e: I don't think the word Islam or Muslim appears in my post either. I don't really trust any charity or religion, so for me this mixes both and imo should not be allowed.

So what religion were you referring to when you assumed it was a religion being advertised then? You cant just say "any religion" lmao because that just exposes the illogicality of your hate. How can you possibly have an advert for "any religion"?

any religion is false so shouldn't be allowed to advertise at all.

Which religion is being advertised? Sorry I assumed you were talking about islam but thanks for confirming it's not Islam that's being advertised, so that's a good start I guess.

So which religion is being advertised? It's not getting my knickers in a twist, I just want to know what religion it is you think is being advertised when you see the words "praise God".

Or are you simply demonstrating that you are unable to differentiate between God as a potential entity and man made organised religion?

I ain't doing this same old merry go round with you.

e: I also don't have any issue with a charity making some money\aid to send to Syria to help the Syrian people caught up in everything, they sure do need it, i hope they get the aid they need.

Just in case you somehow translate one of my posts to mean yukky Syrian's.

Great because you've demonstrated that you have no clue what you're on about, yet again.

So basically Arazi says "Praise God" is advertising religion.
When asked what religion "praise god" is an advertisement for, decided to go full retard. hahaha classical GD comedy gold.

No need for the sarcasm. Either say which religion you think is being advertised here or simply admit that you aren't able to differentiate between god and religion. :D

Expected reply confirmation.

Like we need to roll out the red carpet anymore for Muslims...

Absolute joke, this country has completely lost the plot.

Thread title promised much.

I almost expected that London had become so multi-culti, that you had to say "allah akhbar" to be allowed on the bus at all.

Reality left me disappointed again :p
