*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I'd be waiting until the dust settles after the 1080 and 1070 have been released before splashing out on a 970 if I were you, the 970 looks like it is about to be overpriced as it currently stands.

I completely agree, I may just get the Case or the MOBO next month instead and leave the GPU for a couple of months.

Definitely worth getting a HOTAS. The thrust master flight x is great bang for buck and I'm very happy with it. Would love VR but a bit dear for me just now!

Hi Guys,

Just getting back into this after quite a long break.

Purchased the Horizons expansion off Steam today :)

My current goal is to rank up with the Empire so I have moved over to Cubeo and built myself a Viper Mk III. I've only previously used the Cobra Mk III for combat and no other ship!

Had a bit of a tough time getting the fitting to my preference and about to christen it this evening in some RES sites and Nav beacon or two.

Would love to scrape the money together to get some of the bigger ships and need to look at planetary landings etc as haven't done them yet :D

Just joined Mobius too so maybe see some of you on there?

Oh and my CMDR name is Robinson Crusoe :)

Good luck man. I'd go for an asp once you have the cash. Decent all rounder. Excellent jump range, reasonable cargo, and decent firepower and Hull strength for combat. Bit of a jack of all trades, but it beats the terrible jump range of the vulture in the same price bracket.

Thanks Devrij - I'm playing mostly on my HTC Vive now which is why I took a long break before :)

Would love to get an Anaconda at some point and maybe a few of the Imperial ships.

Anyone have any tips on what to use for the "Cut the power" missions?

Anything that can carry an SRV at the moment will do, though come 2.1 launching you'll need to deal with air support too which is fun :)

My Rift will be here next week at long last and really looking forward to getting back into this. I have been keeping an eye on the thread and news but doesn't look like I have missed much.

My x55 should be arriving early next week... so I might start playing again at *some* point, probably won't be next week though with FFX/X-2 on steam now :P
I would like to go VR too but the cost is disheartening atm.. considered a dk2 but I think I'd rather just wait for better prices on the cv1 (or cv2 by then? :D )

Having had the opportunity to play Elite on a DK2 I'd absolutely love to have VR but just cannot justify the cost for it, I'd need an upgraded pc plus the hmd, it's just not going to happen for a while.

I just fly over and shoot the generator from my ship with cannons or lasers, although dumb rockets are better for it.

I'm flying an Anaconda now but I do miss my clipper. The hardpoints on the anaconda can be a bit frustrating at times given they are so far back on the underside. Other than that it's a fun ship. I'm going to have to grind up to a corvette at some point. I want those two large multi cannons on top.

With dumb rockets you can do it from 4-5km away. Aiming can be difficult though as a lot of the ships float around when trying to hold stationary nose down. The best that I found was the T6.

I am currently heading to HIP 10716 in my new FDS to have a quick go in that.

Saw this video on YT which showed a good technique with the Federal Dropship...

Fun development, the guys who killed us saw my video and had recorded it as well! Clearly more organised than we were. Not sure how he was cycling through his heatsinks and and targeting my power plant without using the UI menu (voice attack?) , but it looks useful.

Sorry for the resurrection of this ;)

I was interested in how the guy who killed you had his ship fitted and he was also flying using Silent Running the whole time.

Anyone know this tactic and able to explain it to a non-pvper?
