Hey guys.

Need some help here.

Just checked my 1.5tb drive on hdd sentinel and its looking bad well to be fair FUBAR

18% health and 374 bad sectors.

I get the health issue and I will be replacing the drive asap but what I'm not clear on is the bad sectors.

How many would you say are acceptable? I get that the firmware makes those sectors un useable again so nothing will be written to those sectors in the future but is 374 high? Ive no idea how many sectors are on a hdd, edit just googled it and theres lots, so is 374 something to worry about massively. I also get the fact that starting to pick up bad sectors more than likely shows that the drive is starting to fail.

Thanks for any input

Cheers buddy. Sort of guessed that was the way to go. Cant RMA it as ive had it an age. Oh well will go out and grab a new one come pay day.

Thankfully it only has on it some media stuff that's replaceable and not going to be a huge loss if it does die in the next 3 weeks.

Luckily its not my family photos, family videos & family tree docs etc

For every drive for data that you buy, you should buy at least another one to keep a backup of that data.
