Evil Geniuses Announces AMD Sponsorship

Regardless of how competitive AMD are right now, its a great thing for a team to get sponsorship deal with the likes of AMD. Congrats to Evil, gg.

No affiliation? OK, if you say so. It's just that someone - probably someone else entirely, who just happens to be called Ferrari100, and who has the exact same English 'style' as you (right down to "GPU's") - well, they have about £40,000 of shares in AMD.

I suppose it's entirely coincidental that a couple of your comments I read have included a few misleading statements about AMD - for example, your recent thread title about AMD achieving a 29% market share described it as a "30% MarketShare [sic]".

And in another thread just now, you linked to an article which showed how poor AMD is for Linux today, and said "If you mean regarding Linux there has been massive headway gained lately. I think AMD are ploughing a lot of cash into Linux drivers, they must be to be getting such good results and feedback." - basically the complete opposite of the article!

I just thought that maybe having ~£40,000 of shares in AMD might be pushing you to be slightly optimistic about AMD, and this in turn may be affecting your OCUK posts. That's all. :p

Sadly hes not the only one on OCUk with a vested interest in AMD share prices.

So AMD have given Evil Genouses some hardware, and probably a wad of cash, to promote their products. I don't see how this means that AMD make the best computer hardware.

"Who are the EvilGeniuses?"

For a second I thought that may have meant that Nividia's P.R launch team and pricing department had jumped ship and were making A.M.D's public relations announcements instead.

But on reflection genius does not appear to be a good fit to cover that one.

LMAO,I love the stalking of the OP because he started a thread which some don't like - great childish personal attacks.

I wonder if the ones doing the attacks and stalking have invested in stocks and shares too - they have as much legitimacy as the OP and none of us know what they are up to either.

How about we have discussion without resorting to trying to accuse people all the time?

It is kind of walking a fine line between having enthusiasm for something and promotional activity in this case though.

(My investment in stocks and shares are in unrelated business areas).

It is the internet - we don't know whether the people making the accusations have massive vested interests either?? I put as much trust in them as the others. People have tried calling me out and it is bloody annoying.

The accusers have as much as authenticity as the accused. I have been on HUKD looking for deals and some of the anti-AMD fans are as worse as the anti-Nvidia ones.

This is why I don't trust the low post forum poster who recently registered trying to paint this news in the most negative way as being any better than the OP who is a big AMD fan:

So horrible when professionals lose their performance streaks due to inferior equipment, no matter what the sport.
Although it's strange to see this "news" under the Hardware - Graphics Cards part of any forum, let alone a UK forum (considering it's an American/Korean professional gaming team getting sponsored by an American company!).

Do you happen to have any affiliation with AMD, EvilGeniuses or LegitReviews, Ferrari100?

They could be easily be one of his opposites on HUKD under a different username.

Legitreviews is a well known US tech site,so his first post in this thread comes across as trying to thread trash it on purpose.

Using absurd logic we should not read most reviews as they are US based tech websites basing their recommendations on relative US pricing.

So,it makes me wonder why he is so desperate to do so??

Oh! Noes! He must be paid by Nvidia in China(not being serious BTW).

See what I did?

If we continue along that line, everybody will think everybody else is some shill and we might as well not bother with any forum.

This is what happened on US forums like Anandtech and others. It lead to them being split into AMD and Nvidia sections.

Lol funny thread. Remember the saying "on the Internet men are men, women are men and kids are the FBI" take everything and everyone with a pinch of salt. Playing EVE taught me a lot ;)

EVE is famous for the undercover opps from the opposition, especially with the secret agent which destroyed a whole faction!! :p

I have no actual idea why this in the graphics sub forum to be honest?

A large number of threads here don't belong in this one. The AMD stock price one was of them:

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18682064

I have no clue why it was in this forum, when the General Hardware or CPU forum seemed more appropriate.

It seem a weird place for it when most of AMD's issues have been down to the CPU side and the fab underutilisation costs for their CPUs.

And did you RTM them?

Plus I can see some sort of relevance to the share prices of a company that makes GPU's as it can reflect on future R&D plus this allows them more cash to compete with the competitors.
(of course some use it with a different agenda)

AFAIK,probably.

I also like to know why there has been a recent spate of certain posters accusing people of being paid employees.

Under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, “falsely representing oneself as a consumer” (in the context of promoting a product to consumers) is deemed to be an unfair commercial practice. This amounts to a criminal offence, the maximum penalty of which is 2 years imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine. The Regulations are policed by the Office of Fair Trading and Trading Standards.

It is illegal in the UK to do not show your affiliation with a company.

Same in the US after the fallout of the Google vs Oracle case.

So,if people have serious allegations they might want to have their evidence sent to senior people at OcUK who can pass it onto trading standards.

Better than petty accusations on a forum.
