What have you done to your car today?

Changed the stock horrible yellow bulbs on headlights to Philips White Visions. Look a bit better even in day light. I just need an excuse to drive at night now :)

It does make me want to change my full beam and side-lights now though. Main beams and side lights are both dingy yellow looking.

I'm very tempted to go high K on main beam...like... little bit above what's road legal. no one's going to see them except me, unless I'm blinding people, which i don't plan on doing..

It's in for MOT at the end of next week, would it fail for illegal bulbs?

Why would you even contemplate it?

no one's gonna see them except you - until you blind someone. So why even think about risking it?

For better visibility..? and Aesthetic's..? I don't drive that much but when I do it's often on A Roads late at night...Hence i actually use main beam to see better without street lamps...

I've managed fine without for 15 years and I live out in the sticks. That way I don't have to be a bell and risk harming other road users just to look cool.

Don't go derv, get an STi!

I just insured my car today.

Last year: ~£900
This year: £351

31 (almost), 6 years no claims and a fault claim from 2013.

It's amazing what one conviciton can truly cost you over the years.

No obvious boost leak found :( so it's either one of the small lines that's perished and being much louder than I'd expect or its the intercooler

You went to an Audi main stealer and you're surprised??? :D

If I can't get a part and "have" to use them I feel myself raging at the utter dross human beings they employ, every.........single..........time (*your experience may vary).

My least favourite is the very clued up salesman who asked about my RS6 "Is that your A6 outside mate" and could he have the keys so he could move it "don't worry I'm fully insured, it's no worry!" - wow :D

A salesman not knowing the difference between an A6 and an RS6 is an instant flag for me.

kthnxbai!

Took it for a spirited drive down some B roads.

I have to say that while it might be absolutely gutless and have as much body roll as a canoe it's still a hoot to drive with a bit of thrashing

Me too, although I should have bedded my new tyres in a bit longer before doing it as the "greasy stuff" they cover them in hadn't completely leached out yet making braking more nerve racking than it should be.

Thought it might be this. Whilst it's very nice it's an 8 year old previous model A6 so expecting the main dealer to fawn over you like you are a rock star is fairly bizarre.

I "am" a Rock Star, kneel before me and bath in my magnificence - LOL :D - anyway for the last time on the subject because Fox bores me -

I.....EXPECT....A.....CAR....SALESMAN.....TO....KNOW...HIS....OWN......BRANDS.......CARS ***and not*** "because he should fawn over me". However you'd know that I'm not that sort of person if you'd actually met me, but you haven't, so the idea that you can stare at some pixels on a screen and somehow know what my own deep personal thoughts were is ridiculous - Fawn LOL :D:D:D:D:D

Had the air con regassed for £20. Awesome job. 5g was evacuated from the system and 500g put in, that's how empty it was

That just means you have a leak somewhere and re-gassing it is just adding £20 to the bill to replace the item causing the leak in the first place! The AC should never need to be gassed. They should have put some colourant into the system and said "pop back in a few weeks and we will check it all out to see where the leak is coming from".

Gas will gradually leak out of any system slowly but that's an awful lot to lose. Every car will need regassed occasionally, even a new and perfect AC system is not a perfect seal. The machines normally do a pressure test before adding the gas so if there were any obvious leaks then it wouldn't have been added at all.

Who regasses A/C for £20??

As others have said I would get the system checked out for leaks. When was the last time it was gassed?

I know some manufacturers say you should have the AC service done once every 2 years, but that's mostly for lubrication and pressure testing isn't it. The Freon levels should still be at expected values. But I guess this also covers their own backs as we all know not everyone leaves their AC on 24/7, so the seals perish and any existing lubricant becomes useless and freon escapes.

In my old E46 the AC was pressure checked when I got it, it didn't need any further attention for the remaining 5 years of ownership!
