How long do you think until nvidia announces the 1080ti?

Either just before or straight after Vega launches. They probably have it already set to go and just waiting.

+1 I should have included that in my answer. I have stated before they could probably launch it any time if they felt like it but won't bother until Vega hits.

A few months after the 1080Ti is out, the 1180 will be out! Then the Ti!

Just buy when your current setup doesn't cut it for you anymore, job done.

Edit: the more I think about it the more certain the 1080ti and Titan just won't need HBM, it just doesn't seem to gain anything. nvidia can use Gp100 with its massive margins as a learning experience ready for Volta where HBM2 will hopefully be cheaper and widely available.

It's possible there will be no HBM2, which would be a pity :(

HBM2 got one extra advantage over GDDR5X - lower power usage, this is particularly important for full fat chip that will push power envelope.

Either way I am only going to upgrade when real in game performance improvement is at least 75% more than my overclocked 980ti.

I can just imagine nvidia introducing a tier above Ti and Titan with an even bigger price tag with an equally ridiculous name - Elite Edition or some such crap.

I don't think we'll see a consumer GP100. GP104 with a mild overclock is actually faster at FP32, so you probably wouldn't see a performance boost from GP100 for gaming.

If there is a 1080ti, it will be some other new chip, not GP100.

They could just call it 'ultra customer milking edition' and people would still buy it (Me included) Nvidia's marketing is on that elite level. They are ruthless in business and profit making, like the empire in Star Wars or something :p

If there is a market for it why not. Have you seen the price of super cars or luxury yachts? A ford mondeo will get you from A to B in much the same way a 400k super car will yet people still outlandish money for a car. Selling a graphics card for 1.5k really wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Wasn't long ago a home people would cost you 5-7k in today's money. I remember the first computer my Dad got . It was several years old already but took a few months pay. I remember at the time he said new it would cost more than our car. Really can't remember what it was, and 2x 5.25" floppy drives, when the disks were actually floppy.

A top end GFX card is a luxury time so luxury prices can apply. As long as there are decent mainstream cards at good prices who the heck cares. Cards like the 970 and 390x are insanely powerful and will handle all the latest games with a few settings down. You don't need everything on ultra or to play at 4k.

well Chiphell have some kind of leak rumor about Ti/Titan, the chip size is 50% bigger than GP104, with 50% more CU.
speculation about availability probably Q4 2016, Q1 2017, all GDDR5X, no HBM2.
prices:
GTX 1080Ti from AIBs: 799 USD
GTX 1080Ti FE: 849 USD
GTX Titan FE only: 999 USD

I have a feeling the Pascal Titan & Ti will use G5X, unlike P100. Q4 2016 for the Titan?

Same here.
I think the gaming oriented cards will come with Gddr5x and a 384 bit bus.
I read that the G5x ram used for the 1080 is the slowest variant of it so a faster version with a wider bus will be plenty.
16 gb's of that will be ample.

I wouldn't be surprised if HBM was put on the back burner for a while.

I think the same, I really don't see the point in HBM2 at this time when nvidia could create a GP102 card with 384bit GDDR5X at 14Gbs compared to the 256bit 1080 running at 10.5Gbs

Whoops, Just like this.

Can't wait for the gtx 1080 ti as it should be almost twice as fast as a stock gtx 980 Ti ;) 3520 cuda cores, 1500mhz stock clock, 98 ROPs and 176 TMUs.

"How long do you think until nvidia announces the 1080ti?"

Not trying to state the obvious, but it won't be anytime soon based on record so far, Nvidia won't confirm anything at least a good while after the new Titan is release...and we ain't even got confirmed release information for the new Titan yet!
