I think May 22nd Has a new meaning/activity for me.....

Every 22nd May.... I will "hold the door" for anyone on my travels for as long as possible!

National hold the door day? :D

Genuinely cut up about poor Hodor and well..... Bran.... the ****

I thought he met the king in the past. As the king touched him, he then knew the right time to attack. He couldn't do it until he gave Bran the mark and it appeared on him in the present. No point before then. That's why they appeared quickly as they knew the time to be ready.

ah OK, but how did they know the time to be there? They can somehow sense it when that mark appears in the present?

I thought it was more the present or very recent past as they've got the big undead army that has only recently been built up - he's then seen bran and so knows he's north of the wall and where to find him

Great episode with a great ending.

I got the impression that when Bran saw the Knight King and his army in his dream/vision/travelling that is was essentially the present and Bran getting touched as the Three Eyed Raven said allows the Knight King to enter so the King just legged it there ASAP and can likely track the mark somehow?

Still not sure how much Bran's time travelling will play into the final events of the series though but I suppose it will be leading into Bran uncovering another series long Hodor like reveal but with much more of a story effect than just how Hodor got his name, despite it being so touching :p Jon's mum or similar.

Stannis confirmed dead.

Then who is this....?

I don't think Stannis is dead. No head on a spike, no real confirmation bar Brienne saying she executed him? What's to say in the final moment she either forgave him or decided that letting him live was worse than killing him?

Great episode last night, sad ending ofc. The speculation was correct with Hodor but I've got a feeling Bran has learnt from this mistake & isn't responsible for the mad king, maybe it was the three eyed raven and that's why he knew not to meddle.

I've added some spoiler tags to the above posts. I know that technically it aired at 2am over here but if people could be nice and use spoiler tags until after the airing this evening it would be appreciated, thanks :)

Was watching an episode of Qi the other day where they claimed that research had discovered people actually enjoy TV/Films more when they know what is going to happen.

edit.....

Spoilers actually enhance your enjoyment

Haven't seen it yet but it was almost impossible to avoid the spoilers this early morning. Not too bothered though as I'll see it the moment I get home.

I get the impression he has made a long old journey to get to Bran. I don't think he touched him in the present and legged it there.
He touched him in the past, whenever that may be then made his way.

Great episode.

Well yes, there is a plastic water bottle in the shot for example (but then there's a bloke wearing watch in Gladiator)

well that is the thing, it also could be a genunine set photo sneakily taken by an extra or member of the crew... however it could well have been from when filiming a previous episode or series while they were just milling around in a forest waiting for the next take or from a scene that wasn't used

that doesn't make too much sense, it must surely be a short journey either way - either it was in the present and he knows from seeing him that he is there or it was in the past and now that bran has that mark they can somehow detect his presence and know they can get in

either way they couldn't have been too far away in order to arrive there so soon

in fact Bran and co were pursued by the undead right at the entrance to that place

also the undead army is relatively recent and the reason for the wildlings grouping together initially under mance so it can't have been particularly long ago

It doesn't specify how long ago it was but I don't think it really matters?
Could have been years ago, could have been a week ago.

They should have seen an army like that creeping up on them from 40 miles away though so either they hadn't left the tree for a while or something else is going on.

if it was in the past then surely the Nights King would just be waiting outside as he would already know what was going to happen
