Wild speculation things
One I read was as others have mentioned, the whispers the mad king heard were Bran trying to communicate with him (and hence drove him mad). What I read said Bran was trying to warn the mad king of the white walkers and wights, telling him he must "burn them all", hence the mad king's love of fire and burning everyone :p

reply to speculation
quite possibly something like that... however it isn't likely to be Bran, more likely to have been bloodraven/three eyed crow since he is a Targaryen (or at least a Targaryen *******) like the Mad King

obviously these warnings, if the theory is true, didn't work and sent him mad

which would explain why the three eyed crow looked worried when Bran shouted out to the young version of his father in that tower scene as he already knows not to meddle with the past

I think after the Hodor incident last week Bran now knows not to meddle in the past too

im guessing you none were fans of
the guy with his penis out :p

Haha, that part was great. My other half (who doesn't watch GoT) was just looking over at me, starting to make the "so that's why you like it" face when we got a face full of penis... :D

It only got mocked because it's so contrary to most peoples opinion.
You may not like Sansa the character (or actress) but she has come a long way from the fanciful "princess" that she was at the start. In my opinion she changed the moment she saw her father's head on a pike and told Jofferey that perhaps her brother might bring her his head.
Yes she was used as a pawn in the games at King Landing but she did enough to survive which was a lot more than others managed.
After the Ramsey incident I suspect she's no ones pawn anymore now. She's come a long way from the 'princess' looking to marry a prince in shining armour. She doesn't mind eating the swill served up by the Night's Watch for a start and she's now willing to lead the fight for her home herself if needs be.

A fair bit of growth...

Yet she told John about the Army Littlefinger told her about. He is still playing her, whether for good or bad.

I'm also of the opinion than Sansa is just an annoying character and the sooner she gets knocked off the better IMO.

OMFG.

Only now just seen the episode as I was away and the the White Walker origin reveal was unexpected. The Hodor bit at the end also blew my mind... the moment he said "hold the door" it clicked and I just spent the next few minutes gawping slackly at the screen in horrified awe as he was torn apart.

Just... incredible. Brutal, but incredible. Sigh.

Whispers to mad king, likely by 3eyed raven, thus when he stated, it was time for Bran to become HIM, he meant try to influence the past, and mess up royally. Which Bran did indeed do, Hodor!

Now Bran knows the cost of meddling in the past, but he will also know he has to continue to look into the past to find answers/solutions to current problems.

Having read some of the fan theories about how Matrix Revolutions would resolve, if be very wary of putting too much stock in fan theory.

nah some of the clues for these fan theories are quite deliberate, especially the very well known one - way too many hints at that now

Re-watching upto midway through series 3. A question...

When Sam is beyond the wall and they encounter the un-dead, the other members of the watch leg it and he hides behind a rock. The undead comes past and one looks at him. Why didn't they kills him?

If there is one thing Game of Thrones does well it is making heroes and villains.

They don't need to chase and cut down every Night's Watch member they come across.

The Night's Watch are nothing to them and that was the message the WW sent by letting him live.

Well, that's my interpretation of it.

Or they didn't actually see him.

You are right about them not killing every Nights Watch member though, as they spared Will in the very first episode when they were investigating the wildlings.

Yeah, didn't think it was a particularly good episode. I need to read a bit to be reminded who some of these people are, what they're are doing and who they're doing it to, though :)

Other than Benjen and the dragon this was a bit of a filler episode.:(

Was that a new Edmure?

Next weeks looks better:

Edmure, He's been locked up for how many years, maybe they made him look gaunt and half dead. Saw the episode this morning and couldn't get a good view of his face due to sunlight through lounge windows.

Ayra has gone awol and she'll blatantly kill the other girl who's been kicking her butt all season.

Benjen is back

I think the fast WW are the skinless skeletal types i guess cos they can move quicker with no flesh. Still pretty weak considering.

Danerys story is just grinding along but glad to see the dragon back on the screen.
