Dell S2716DG - Dells first G-sync

It didnt dawn on me until reading this thread, right now, how much better the viewing angles are on this compared to the rog swift. Totally ***** all over it.

I've come to terms with the ghosting when scrolling text. Been playing The Division on it solidly for the last couple of days and not seen the problem manifest itself in game.

Very much worth it's money. I may finally start peeling the cellophane off it.

Indeed. Surprised this monitor is so popular considering it has issues and is TN.

Unfortunately all the monitors based off the same panel suffer some types of issues of some sort and the IPS version isn't quite as good for serious fast paced gaming.

Yeah shame that. I hope they improve panels with the new stuff coming out later this year. So much money these days for these so called premium monitors.

Received mine today and I'm actually quite impressed! Yes the colours are not great out the box compared to my LG IPS, but I've done a little tweaking and I'm happy with the results. Gaming on this is infinitely better than my IPS screen (love G-Sync) and I can now say goodbye to IPS glow and slow pixel response times too :). The AG coating is still a little aggressive, but not as thick as my LG and some previous Dell models. It's perfectly acceptable.

Not a single dead pixel and the whole thing is pure quality! Very solid with no wobbling, creaks or flimsy parts etc... I'm perfectly happy with my purchase

I'm happy with my Dell TBH, first one had purple hue and a dead pixel but this one is flawless in that regard. Sure it has it's flaws like most monitors do but I'm happy with mine. Surprised me how much of a difference gsync can make. It will keep me going until I make the jump to 4K.

I've just received this monitor and seem to be having a few problems with the colouring/pixels. Does anyone know if this is a monitor issue, or if it's down to the settings? I can see blocks/distortion of pixels.

This is an image of my desktop which I've enhanced to show the problem a bit better. You can see it clearly in the bottom left:

Witcher 3 loading screen, notice the purple colouring near the bottom:

In bright scenes it looks fine, like when in-game:

Anyone know what's going on? I've changed changing brightness, contrast, and monitor profiles.

Cheers!

I assume these are screenshots rather than photographs of the monitor? In that case it has nothing whatsoever to do with the monitor.

That's right, yea.

All I know is that I changed to this monitor and some scenes now looks like this. I've changed different monitor settings but it doesn't make a difference, so I've no idea what's causing it really.

The issue is to do with the content. It is likely that your previous display masked it, due to its gamma behaviour perhaps, and now you have a new monitor (S2716DG) you can simply see the issue. It would be highlighted in a more obvious way by the default low gamma of the S2716DG, so you may find applying an ICC profile or adjusting gamma in-game helps a bit as well.

Thanks for your help. The gamma on my screen was seemingly too high, as it has improved after lowering it in the Nvidia control panel and in-game.

I can't say I've noticed that blocky image quality issue (and I've been playing Witcher 3 quite a bit). First thing I did was turn the brightness down as it's set quite high out the box. Also check the output dynamic range is set to full and not limited in the Nvidia control panel under the resolutions settings. It looks very washed out when it's set to limited.

i have 2 issues with this monitor, that really annoys me:
1. random change in gamma each time i minimalize or close the game.
2. sometimes when i turn off my rig and leave monitor on and later i turn pc on, monitor stays off just on/off light blinks. (deep sleep mode off)

What revision do you guys have? Mine is Rev A01 and the manufacture date according to the box is November 2015... I've only had it a few days! Surely I would have had one with a newer date or revision considering how well they're selling? There's also another address label on the bottom of the box for a Sophie Ryan of Micro-P LTD. Is this normal? Are Micro-P the distributers or was it another Dell customer or something (shipping address with Dell logo in the corner)?

Oh, and there is a very faint buzzing noise when the brightness is set to around 40. Not that noticeable unless I put my ear to the top of the monitor on the right side (along the thin vent)... then it can be heard quite clearly. Can anyone else hear a slight buzzing from that area?

EDIT: Just checked the service tag ID with Dell and it shows the warranty had started on the 22nd of January!! I only purchased the monitor at the weekend! Does this mean I've already lost 4 months worth of warranty? I wonder if I've accidently been sent a returned or B-grade item?

Mine has the same revision, manufacture date and same Sophie Ryan Micro-P LTD label on the box.

Can't hear any buzzing noise but my brightness is down to 22%. When I ran the built-in diagnostics I did notice a dead sub-pixel on the blue screen but this isn't visible during normal use; even on the blue colour of the OcUK forum.

My warranty starts on the same date and I did wonder about that.

Looking again it says box 20 of 50 on that label so I'm assuming it's some distribution centre and Dell sent them 50 monitors. They must have been sat around for a while though being manufactured 7 months ago! The box is a little grubby and dented.

No dead pixels here and only the tiniest amount of light bleed along the bottom edge above the Dell logo... Nothing noticeable at all unless you're really looking for it and the room is dark. It's a hell of a lot better than the glowing/light bleed from my previous LG IPS screen :).

The buzzing isn't anything major or loud (I get more noise from my phone charger lol). I only barely noticed it when I hooked up my Amazon Fire TV box to the HDMI port as the room is totally silent when the PC is off. I can't hear it at all when the PC is running.

On the OcUK website it says 3 years "on-site" warranty. I guess that means we go through OcUK instead of Dell themselves? We always have our receipts to prove the date of purchase anyway . Just found it odd that the warranty had already started months ago, as if someone else had owned it before me.

The warranty will be with Dell and not with OcUK.

I'm not sure why the warranty has already started but I don't believe it's been previously owned.

I'm not overly fussed because for < £400 it's a great monitor at a cracking price!

I ordered mine on 28'th of May along with a 1080 FTW, the money has been taken out of my account, I've now just received an e-mail whilst at work that it's out of stock and the price is just shy of £500...not impressed.
