*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I wouldn't mind a bit of extra speed for my Annie, as she is a sluggish bird when making chase. What are the costs to these benefits like? I assume more speed needs more power for instance? Is it quite a jump or just a bit more?

The "compromises" to each are shown during creation. They absolutely depend upon the component in question. So for thrusters, it's something like mass, integrity etc. It's not just a pure win-win scenario, which is supposed to mean that they're balanced.

Well....

Patch 2.1.02 has dropped... I have spent and hour in a High Res with my Vulture and..... as far as I can tell AI is back to 2.0. No fight, no maneuvering and generally sitting there like lame ducks... Deadly Anaconda did not even try to kill me or security...It was done and dusted, 225K bounty in 2 mins...

I thought the AI wasn't being changed, just the engineered mods being removed? I'm out exploring at the moment so will be a few hours before I get to test the AI.

From 2.1.0.2

- Fix NPCs ending up with overpowered hybrid weapons
- Stop NPCs deciding to attack if they only attack opposing powers and the player and AI powers are aligned to the same superpower
- Slight rebalance of the ambient AI rank chances, should see slightly less of the top end and more of the low/mid range
- Smooth out the mission-spawned USS AI levels so that high ranks are rarer and only elite missions hit the top end ai (though deadly can get close)

I dropped into a USS with a threat of 4.... Sure enough, very cross anaconda and his viper and eagle mates, all deadly... Run away? yep, to right I will run away..... did not even drop my shields with a couple SCB and Frame shift super cruised out of there after losing the anaconda mass lock.... What I found odd was nearly all the fire coming from them was Kinetic.... not many pew pews...

I am sure if I hung about the security would have helped... as it was I legged it as fast as I could boost.....

Im done with this game now, i dont mind a challenge but its beyond a joke now.

Annie pulls me out (cant remotely win interdictions anymore) scans me, by time im about to re-jump he's already took my shields now and took me to 33% hull. He follows, again interdicts me, this time when im pulled out my ship just spins stupidly out of control and dead.....

cba with this rubbish.

Right same bloody NPC again just wipes me out, using new engineer weapons etc, just stupid not fun at all.

Currently out at Beagle Point, so won't be back in the bubble for a while yet. However, reading about the recent Engineers update doesn't fill me with much confidence or hope upon my return.

Everything I've read to date implies that the whole game is now very unbalanced and becoming very much RNG when coming face to face with NPC's. The whole idea of "Crafting" I'm not at all interested in and doesn't really add anything to the game for me, especially considering how unbalanced it now seems to have become.

In view of this, I'm not really looking forward to when those green men finally make an appearance. I feel things will be even more cut throat then and very much more unbalanced in the favour of the AI.

Shame, as I very much like the game, heck, I backed it in KS. Just at the moment it feels like Frontier have lost their way with it, but that might just be me?

I just logged in to find I have 13 Million more credit than yesterday with no explanation why?

As already stated, but this is from the latest News Letter: -

Message from the Pilots Federation

Good news Commanders,

Due to the recent surge of unsanctioned and illegally modified weapons from the NPC AI over the recent days. The Pilots Federation have agreed to reimburse all insurance payouts made over that period (Between The Engineers (2.1) update and this mornings update).

The Pilots Federation would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and continued support.

Fly safe

Regards

Ok this frikkkin sucks.

I just landed on the engineer planet.
Tried to take off. My conda wouldn't.

No matter what I do... and then I get blown up for lottering!!!

I know my controls are working absolutely fine... Ive submitted a ticket.

Does this sound right? Has anybody experienced this before?

I've had this once before, and had to exit out and come back in again for it to seemingly solve itself. It was almost like a power management thing has resulted in not enough power getting to the thrusters...

I had that happen to me! I have a X52 Pro with the thrusters mapped to the 4-way on the front of the throttle. I launched from the planet and my thrusters wouldn't do anything at all and I was soon taken out for loitering :(

I've now mapped the keyboard arrow keys to the thrusters, too, as a backup, as I don't know if it was the joystick being ignored or a bigger issue but, if it happens again, I can at least try the keyboard keys to take off.

This.

Have had it a couple of times all though not in a base but out on a planet. Logout and back in seemed to resolve it, clearly a bug there.

I tried logging but nothing happened. I've lost my anaconda which took me ages to get. Luckily got some insurance but not enough to cover costs of equipment.

Think frontier would help to reimburse any costs?

yeah they should. They have done for me in the past.

You'd know all about it on a high grav planet because you'd probably crash when you tried to land
