Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

I'm not talking about that aspect. Watch what happens when one spots you then the rest spot you just like that. They all know without gradually shouting to each other. One knows, they all start firing. Even from 300 - 500 yards away. They all know your exact location when others further away cannot see you in direct sight.

For the most part, yea. Though it is possible to run and hide and have them lose you again. They'll keep searching for you, so they wont just go back to their normal post, but you can go back to stealth in some situations even after being spotted. Just becomes more tense after that.

Anyways, just finished the game. Final encounter was super lame. Glorified QTE situation. Ending overall was really good, though. Wont go into anymore detail.

Finished up with 2,250 screenshots on the dot. "Photomode - The Game" lol.

There's a lot I still dont love about the franchise, but this one was certainly an unforgettable experience.

I've been replaying it again for the crushing trophy and stealth can be quite tricky. It also seems there is wider gaps between check points. That bit is frustrating.

You've got a heck load more photos than me. I thought I had a lot not far from 700.

Even hand combat is interesting with the big bruisers on crushing.

Like all the Uncharted games, this one was a lot of fun, but I rank it 3 out of 4 in the series. Graphics were amazing but thought the story was a bit ... unoriginal shall we say. Didn't warm to Sam at all, I know you have to suspend your disbelief quite a bit in Uncharted games but I found the notion that he could have been in a prison for 15 years without getting word out to Nate a little bit implausible. Elena and Nate are married now, so their relationship is boring - and no Chloe :( There wasn't really a standout wow moment for me like there was in 2 with the train level, and no paranormal bad guys at the end. I was willing Hector Gonzalez to show up at some point and there to be some three-way battles between his troops, Raif's and Nate's.

I've been replaying Uncharted 2 Remastered each night and forgotten how awesome this game really is. The graphics/lighting are still awesome. Uncharted 2 really feels like some form of military game but with treasure.
I've forgotten how fun it was with the helicopter fights and the buildings collapsing. It was also quite fun with the big puzzles as well as the meet up part with all 4 characters making their way through the war zone.

Funny thinking about 3 now how it really felt like, The Last Crusade.

What about the truck scene chase? that was brilliant!

Having played three and two before jumping into 4 I have to agree that the set pieces are boring, I mean yeah the first time you get one its intense but rinse and repeat thirty times later they are just boring. I swear two felt like one run down corridor, shoot bad guys, do a jump set piece and get thrown around, rinse and repeat.

Four isn't too bad at the moment and I am enjoying the game but I'm not blown away by it, the graphics aren't that great....I mean I was expecting to be blown away by some of the posts I've read here/GAF/twitter etc, I mean yeah the long distant views are good but up close its nothing on a level above other games. I mean in my opinion ROTTR was just as good looking.

I was underwhelmed by the graphics but later in the game the graphics seemed to look much better.

I think I'm just about to reach that part of the game (just done the towers and now following pirate markers).

The vistas are beautiful I'll admit but up close and personal they aren't as mind blowing as I was expecting.

Yeah most after that is pretty good to my eyes. Find the water effects a bit rubbish though.

I feel like we played completely different games.

For one - the distant views are one of the visual *weakpoints* of Uncharted 4. It often uses low geometry backdrops with very low level-of-detail assets. Its mid-to-close range assets though are just mind blowing. It is certainly helped a ton by amazing art direction and simple attention to detail, but the quality of graphics overall is unprecedented in gaming. Simple as that. I was consistently blown away by this aspect and its the major reason why I probably spent a good 30% of my time with the game in photomode, because I simply couldn't resist taking snaps of the drop-dead visuals that Naughty Dog obviously went out of their way in providing nearly every moment of the game. And the IQ is damn near impeccable. Only other titles that have its level of detail and have comparable IQ need to run at like 1800p-2160p to achieve a similar result.

I haven't played ROTTR yet, but I've seen plenty of it and while it's gorgeous, it's not on UC4's level. It really has raised the bar to a such a degree that it may take another couple years before anything surpasses it. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if nothing does til Naughty Dog puts out their next game. It's really *that* impressive.

It does have some faults visually, it's not perfect. The water is weak. The character models dont look great in bright lights. There are some occasional low-res shadows. As I said, the distant backdrops are very basic. It shows visual artifacts quite a lot when swiveling the camera around. And there are times when the resolution reconstruction techniques are quite noticeable, particularly on character's faces and models. But I could pick out weak points in any game. UC4 still stands above them all *overall*, and probably by a good margin.

I'm simply baffled that this could be part of somebody's criticism. It's the best looking game ever made.

Some of the forest views late on with the mist and sunlight are quite spectacular.

At what point will it be safe to no longer use spoilers?

I can really pull out the big guns if anybody wants to talk graphics comparisons.

I've got loads of amazing, full 1080p, lossless, direct capture screenshots. I could fill the next TEN PAGES with nothing but crazy graphics if need be.
