Exclusive: How AMD's 'The Uprising' Ad Campaign Will Incite A Radeon Rebellion

They haven't given it up, they're attacking at the part of market that will gain them the most ground and allow them to (hopefully) produce at volume whilst 14nm and the new architecture beds in. Vega is coming at the end of this year or the start of next and that's their assault on the high end.

Also, I like this campaign. It's eye-catching.

Agree they are far from giving up ....More volume in mainstream its not all about the best and fastest card......

but if any thing comes from AMD in the next few weeks and is even close to the 1070 at £200 £300

AMD may just have something here re there ADS to me ...these prices we in the uk/eu have to pay for the pascals and peeps have paid this so most will have been left a bad taste in the mouth paying more than they should....

So if nvidia are not careful then there well maybe the picking up of the pitchforks ect and seaming at nvidia WHY!!!! and these will be nvidia customers ....

Will see

Lmao, that pic made me lol.

Disgusting 1080 owners (Clown card owners excluded) they are the 1%, grab pitchforks boys.

Lol, this is just too funny.

They are forgetting about the 49% though... those of us already on a GTX970/390. Nothing interesting till Vega I'm afraid. More time to save I guess...

Sorry but Amd talk a good and take way too long to release anything.
When they do bring something finally to the table it's ok, hope they prove me wrong

Good things come to those who wait....

Id rather wait for a fairly priced GPU from an ethical company than jump on the hype bandwagon and pay £600+ for glossy marketing and an incremental upgrade. As much as I appreciate that Nvidia currently have the fastest GPU's I just can't bring myself to give them anymore money. Their attitude towards customers is disgusting. They just see them as a cash cow. No respect at all.

It's sad AMD have given up the battle for the high end, fighting over the value segment is a race to the bottom imo.

Integrated graphics are already pretty good for the value segment, and if their reasoning is for VR, that's high end enthusiast territory.

They haven't but they are going for the biggest market right now - to give them best way to regain market share.

We have Vega coming in Oct; looks like both big and little vega. Little Vega will fall in 1080 speeds if not faster and Big Vega will take on P100.....

I like the campaign; they are branching out and the graphics are better than they've done in a while.

Cringe to the max. They need to spend less on ******** like this and more on making decent GPUs.

+1

A load of rubbish if you ask me, They claim to be doing stuff like this
"AMD conducted focus tests in 7 countries,"
to see if people like the new lettering, What a waste of time and money.

Then they're showing a letter from a random Joe Bloggs saying how great they are...

The whole thing reeks of desperation, They claim to be focusing on the low/mid tier cards but in truth I'm starting to wonder if they even have chips that can compete this time around. Sad times.

So what are AMD going to be doing from July to October when Nvida have a 1060, 1060ti, 1070 and 1080, loose more market share?

The 1% is just stupid anyway. 970 is minimum VR specs and there are far more gamers with a 970 it faster. At one time the installed user base of 970% owners was near 5% alone.

Buying a 480for $200-230 over a $270 970 doesn't significantly expand the VR market when the headsets cost $700. $50 savings doesn't change anything.

I think the poster is a bit cheesy and this is just p.r but the stuff about responding to customers particularly on price. Hits the correct note.

Contrast's well with Nividias rum, sodomy and the lash approach to pricing.

Hopefully its not just talk.

Things like this really do turn me away from a brand. It wreaks of desperation and so much cheese going on in the whole article, I felt sick. Why can't they just put their efforts into the GPUs instead of looking like a campaign for a charity ?

I doubt that the people doing the campaign are engineers who would otherwise be working on GPU design. And I think designing the posters would be a small expense next to all the engineering work.

That's some crystal ball you have there

This is information that's been put out by AMD; we know there are two VEGA chips - like Polaris.....logic would dictate; it would follow like Polaris. Little Vega would be 1080 variant; while Big Vega would take on P100......

when is 1060 launching? We know there is another chip for 300 price range; we just don't know where it will fall.

Polaris will take care of 1060 when it launches.......as its been said Vega has been moved up from early 2017 to Oct.....biggest market is exactly where Polaris is launching.....and AMD has been clawing back market share. This launch will get them biggest chunk of market share.......

Funnily enough didnt they bring in that bird from Nvidia to do their marketing and stuff? this strikes me as some cheesey nvidia type shenanigans also ;)
